Keep calling attention. More and more fans are showing interest in participating in an event where, for the first time, four simultaneous tournaments will be played in four big clubs, with an honorary prize in play. Next, we talk with one of the main architects of this project, to learn more about the origins and philosophy of this original competition.

Padel World Press .- Just a few months ago he came to the world of padel but, from the first moment, he made it very clear that his goal was to be different from the rest. Original, always looking for new competition formats and 'own' products, Rubén Galán has made the name of EventPádel increasingly known nationally.

Very excited about the Iá Cup of Pádel Madrid, he told us about the first steps that ended up leading to this attractive project and what he and his companions are pursuing in this adventure.

This is how a competition was created that is as special as it is different.

How and when did the idea of launching the Padel Madrid Cup come up?

Well, the truth is that from EventPadel we have always had the urge to create projects different from the usual ones. My relationship with Óscar, from Padel World Press, has always been excellent and one day I launched the rod. I told him the idea he had, he did not take long to convince him, and he got in touch with Miguel and Rubén from Time2Pádel and Green Sponsors.

It is not very normal for companies in the same sector to join forces. How was this alliance created?

Well, in an informal meeting between Óscar, Miguel and I, although we had already commented a little on the phone and separately. The truth is that the padel seems to be booming but inside, in my opinion, I think you need fresh air that goes inside (professional players, coaches, clubs, companies in the sector) was out (amateur players, semi players) competition, potential sponsors, etc ...). If you look, they are almost always the same products. Why not do a job in common among people with enthusiasm and professionalism, which allows creating something different?

What is the objective you pursue with this competition?

This competition was born with the spirit of encouraging participation and / or competition among amateur players. It is very good to win the typical weekend tournament and take your prize but participate or compete to win your area and then measure your strength with those of the winners of the other demarcations to achieve an unofficial prize 'Absolute Champion' is something different. In my case, as someone who likes to compete in everything he does, I am attracted to the idea.
How were the meetings, how was the process of deciding the competition format, the awards, the restrictions?

Well, the truth is that it has been easy for us to understand each other but expensive to carry out. At first, we stayed physically but then things got complicated due to schedule issues and we have coordinated and started everything through conference calls and a lot of work, almost daily I would say, by email. We have got on very well. Everyone's involvement has been 100% and I am happy to see how Time2Padel, Green Sponsors and Padel World Press have convinced themselves that this is innovative and that it can work. It is the first amateur tournament to be played simultaneously in four venues, at the same time and on the same day.

Why were these four clubs chosen?

First, we seek to divide Madrid geographically into four. Then, we looked for reference clubs within those venues, especially considering that maybe at 100% we could not achieve a complete division. The four clubs selected are all of the same quality, have good facilities, a significant number of tracks and, in general, people know them. We think that all those who already play in these clubs can be encouraged to participate. I hope we get this project consolidated and, I think I speak for everyone, we would love to add venues or vary clubs for future editions.

There are more and more tournaments and the fans have a bigger offer ... What makes the Padel Cup Madrid special and different?

As I said before, anyone who likes to participate in tournaments, that not everything is to win but to play with people of varied and similar level to yours (or, why not, better), and who is passionate about competing, in this competition will have different incentives. Not only do you get the corresponding prize but, in addition, you can say that you have won the South Zone, for example, the Iª Cup of Pádel Madrid or, why not, get to be the best of the four venues and, with it, an Informal Champion of Madrid.

Will it be an isolated experience or will it have continuity over time?

Our goal is to get it right, that people enjoy, that they feel well treated by all the organizers and clubs, that they also be motivated and why not, that they themselves are the ones who demand it. I would love to consolidate this initiative and be able to draw an Annual Calendar. That is our goal but, for now, we are going to enjoy this call.

What reasons would you give to the fans so that they do not miss this I Cup of Pádel Madrid?

First, I would tell them that they are going to enjoy some incredible clubs, in an exceptional athletic atmosphere. Afterwards, I would comment that all the organizers are going to take care of the details as much as possible and that our goal is not to obtain registrations at any price. The approach is for people to enjoy, to play the paddle as much as possible and, finally, to compete, to have an incentive different from the usual ones of this type of tournaments ... If I were not organizing, I would not miss it.
