He is one of the reference players of the Madrid paddle. Despite his youth, he has already left samples of his character, his dedication and his undeniable talent. With desire to succeed in this sport, it is clear that he must continue working to make his dream come true.

Padel World Press .- It may not be one of the best known names in the Professional Circuit. He may not even be a very popular player among fans ... But there is no doubt that this Madrid has everything to succeed in the world of paddle.

Professional, hardworking and totally dedicated to this sport, David made the decision to stop understanding padel as a hobby to turn it into a profession. Under the supervision of Jorge Martínez and the advice of Green Agents, he wants to continue overcoming barriers until becoming one of the references of the World Pádel Tour.

Then, you can know more in depth.

I would like you to tell me who David Garcia is and how you started in the world of paddle tennis.

Well I am a boy of 21 years of Leganés, Madrid, lover of the paddle that began in this sport to the 5 years. My family moved to an urbanization where there was a track and it was there where I started playing with the neighbors. Once I was getting more and more liked, I started training and competing regionally and nationally when I only had 9 years.

Reference name in the paddle of Madrid, when and how do you decide to make the jump to the Professional Circuit?

At the end of my stage of Minors, I decided that I wanted to reach the top of the Professional Circuit. I knew that it would not be easy because, for that, you have to work harder and harder. It is very difficult to reach and consolidate up there.

What is the hardest, what is hardest to get used to when making that leap into the professional world?

The one that comes from the Circuit of Minors, to make good results and to compete only with people of your age. When you take that step, you fall head over heels in a different world, in which each game is a final and in which the results do not usually come quickly. You realize that you have started a long distance race, in which you are constant or you will not reach the goal.

The padel has changed and evolved a lot in recent years ... What are the main differences between the paddle you played when you started and the one that is practiced now?

Well, I would say that before you played with a rather slow and heavy ball. This meant that the use of the balloon was much greater and that mastering the tray was essential. Today, that blow has much less presence because the ball with which it is competed at present is fast and light. In these moments, we observe that it defends much more down and seeks to win the network with a fast balloon or with a dunk, with which you go to the volleys clash ... The auction has a fundamental role.

It is increasingly difficult to reach the Main Draw and there are spectacular duels from Pre-Preview ... Is it now the most professional padel?

Yes, without a doubt. Now, qualifying for the Main Draw is much more difficult than a few years ago. It is not a secret that there has been a very large professionalization of this sport. You notice that all the players train a lot and prepare the Circuit very well.

How is a normal day in your preparation? How do the trainings combine with the other facets of your daily life?

Well, apart from training and competing, I am in 4º of the Sciences of Physical Activity and Sports career at Inef in Madrid. In the mornings, I combine the trainings with the classes in the best possible way and, in the afternoons, I try to match my physical preparation with my work by giving paddle lessons to the boys awarded by the Damm Foundation, by the hand of Jorge Martínez and Manuel Pascual

Young players or Pre-Prior have not easy to devote to the 100% to this sport ... What are the main difficulties that you are?

Well, very simple. Our difficulties are financial. As you can imagine, the players in the Previous Rounds have to pay for everything ourselves: accommodation, transportation, allowances ...

So far by Sergio Alba, how was your relationship with him? What contributed to your game and what did you contribute to yours?

We have had a great relationship and we are friends both on and off the track. He has brought dynamism, speed, aggressiveness to my game ... I to his game, experience on the court, maturing of the point, competition ... In Madrid, we have obtained results that are higher than our expectations. In the Professional Circuit, things were somewhat different.

We already know that you will stop playing together. Do you know with whom you will play the next tournaments?

I still do not want to talk much about this topic but, well, I can confirm that both in Lisbon and Tenerife I will play alongside Víctor Sánchez.

What challenges have you marked for the next years?

I want to improve my game day by day. I want to get more experience and level, winning more and more matches and, above all, go up in the Ranking of the Professional Circuit.

Which player is your reference? What is the mirror in which you look?

For me, Fernando Poggi. I am very lucky to have him as a training partner and, of course, he is a person who embodies all the values that an athlete needs to get up there: perseverance, work, discipline, sacrifice and desire and enthusiasm.

What is your favorite stroke and which one would you like to improve?

Undoubtedly, the right wall outlet is my favorite hit. And to improve many. If I'm honest, all actually hahaha.

What moment, what anecdote do you remember with special love inside a paddle court?

I remember in the 2009 year, in the World Championship of Seville, that due to circumstances I had been left out of the Spanish National Team, when, together with Ale Ruiz, we proclaimed ourselves World Champions Sub'16. We won in a final agony, which lasted more than three hours and in which, in addition, I was lucky to have a good part of my family supporting me from the stands. It was very special to be able to share that happy moment with them.

Second most practiced sport in this country, what do you need for your Professional Circuit to have the recognition it deserves?

In my opinion, what is missing is both the private support for the Professional Circuit and the fact that the National and International Federations of this sport work together for and for the paddle.

From your point of view ... What do you expect from the future of this sport?

That continues to grow at the current rate, making its place internationally and one day is as famous in the world as it is tennis. As for the competitive level, and for dreaming that it does not remain, it becomes an Olympic Sport.

What message would you like to send to the readers of Padel World Press ??

First, thank them for their attention and tell them to continue loving this sport in the way they do ... And we all contribute to keep growing. Thank you very much for everything, it has been a pleasure.
