Daniel Gamarra Peñalver, padel teacher and journalism student, wanted to pay tribute to the figure of one of the best players in the history of this sport ... In his opinion, Fernando Belasteguín is a true 1 number, in the broadest sense of Those words.

Padel World Press .- There is a lot of talk about 'Bela' lately ... It must be because of his 55 games won this season or because of his 11 titles. But this great player is much more than numbers or statistics. Bela is charisma, she is struggle, she is dedication; Bela is losing a match 5-0 and continuing to fight each ball as if the match had just begun.

Bela is having to endure the phrase "win for your partner" for 13 years without realizing that it was he who carried the weight of the crash, the one who created angles ... He was the one who pulled that ball the most, the one with those magnificent balloons that do not touch heaven like those of others, but with those who lost the network ... Bela is that player who wins two titles with a 44-year-old player who last season threatened to say goodbye to the World Paddle Tour Circuit and who left us all with his mouth open when he remembers the 'magician' who was World Champion in 1998. That is Bela, a rough player who does not stand out in any shot but who has been the best player in the world for no more and no less than 14 consecutive years.

Despite all this, if we asked Fernando, he would tell us that he is not the best player in the world and would name several teammates on the Circuit whom he considers best. That is the humility of the champion.

However, all glory requires a price and, as he himself says, he has given more to paddle than what paddle has given him ... And he is partly right since there is no title, tribute or award that makes him recover the time that he has not been with his loved ones just to hit the 'happy little stick'.

To conclude this article, just say thank you ... Thank you Fernando for giving us your time, for giving us your paddle, for showing us how to play this wonderful sport after a few years in which the paddle looked like doubles tennis. Thank you for returning those effects, those changes of speed, that creation of angles or those wonderful balloons; thanks for returning, simply, the essence of this our sport.
