Padel World Press - Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría They were crowned as the undisputed champions of the WPT Vigo Open 2023 by overwhelmingly defeating Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay 6-2, 6-3 in a thrilling final.

In this long-awaited confrontation between the two main couples in the women's ranking, Ari and Paula were victorious, expanding their dominance with five wins compared to only one for Ale and Gemma. In addition, this brilliant result allowed them to recover the coveted first place in the classification of the Race, beating their rivals by just 60 points.

Since their misstep during the South American tour, where they suffered losses in the semifinals in Argentina and the quarterfinals in Chile, Ari and Paula have been unstoppable. They reached the final in Vigo with an impressive record of fifteen consecutive victories, and today they culminated their spectacular performance by winning their fourth consecutive title and the fifth of the season.

From the beginning of the match, Ari and Paula imposed their authority on the pitch. From the first game they managed a break that made it clear that they would not give a truce to Ale and Gemma. Despite the fact that the second classified had some opportunities to equalize the score, Ari and Paula maintained absolute control of the match. With another break in the fifth game, they sealed the first set with a resounding 6-2.

The match was not the best for Ale and Gemma, largely due to the excellent performance of the number ones. The runners-up only managed to get in front of the score in the first game of the second set, as Ari and Paula quickly rallied and broke again in the third game. With a firm step, the ranking leaders advanced towards a new victory, which came true with another break in the ninth game, closing the set with a final score of 6-3.
