For the sixteenth month, the companions of the Digital Magazine TopPádel 360º have decided to test the knowledge 'sufferers' and the rules of this sport of fans ... Will you be able to give the right answer to the question posed to us?

Padel World Press .- On this occasion, we are going to analyze a case that can occur during the dispute of any match ... We are ready to perform our second serve and, at that moment, the receiver bends down to pick up a ball from the ground. We do not realize the situation and we serve, failing ... The opponents claim the point and we want to repeat the second serve.

Who is right?

a) The point is for the opponents, since I have failed the second service.

b) The second service is repeated, as the subtractor is not ready.

c) It is the opponents' decision that the service be repeated or that the point be for them.

CORRECT ANSWER:

b) The second service is repeated, as the subtractor is not ready.

I have seen this situation more than once ... And some with controversy. There are players who do the second serve very quickly, almost without giving time for the receiver to prepare… What happens then if that second serve is failed, being clear that the receiver was not ready?

There are players who think that if the serve had been good it would be repeated, but that, when it fails, it is not repeated and is a lack of service (answer 1). Others think that the decision has to be made by the remaining pair (answer 3), giving the option or not to repeat the serve ...

But no matter what one or the other thinks, the important thing is what the Regulation says. And Rule 6 (The serve or service), in its section i), is very clear: "If it is shown that the receiver was not prepared, it will not be possible to call a foul".

In other words, the important thing is whether or not the receiver was ready. If it is clear that he was not prepared, as is our case, it does not matter whether the service has failed or not ... It must be repeated.

Another discussion could be to decide if the subtracted player was indeed ready or not, but that is left to the good will of the players or, if there is a referee, to the interpretation of this one.
