Electric, fast, with a very promising future ahead and before a season in which he must begin to confirm all the potential that he treasures.

Padel World Press .- This is how the year 2014 Sergio Alba begins, a player with great talent who, based on work and perseverance, has managed to attract the attention of a firm of HEAD's prestige.

From Padel World Press, we want to help you to know a little more about this star project that will give a lot to talk about in the coming years.

To begin, I would like to know who Sergio Alba is and how he came to the world of paddle tennis.

I am a boy of 23 years born in Guadalajara, who is passionate about sports. I started playing tennis at the 4 years, a discipline that was part of my life until the 18. My contact with padel began in a time of tennis decay and the construction of padel courts in the club where I taught. I encouraged myself to participate in non-federated tournaments that took place in their facilities and, little by little, I began to initiate myself in this wonderful sport, which I barely knew, but in which I did not take long to propose new challenges.

The 2013 season was very positive in every way. Did you expect to make such a big leap in quality?

When I started the 2013 year with my partner David García Campos I never imagined being able to compete against players of such high level this year. To be honest, our main goal was to enjoy every game we played. That progression has not gone unnoticed ...

What did it mean to reach a team like HEAD?

HEAD has been a benchmark that I have had since my childhood in my tennis career. I saw his brand in all the clubs he went to and I could see the great quality of his rackets and shovels, shoes and textiles. Belonging now to this important firm fills me with pride and gives me the strength to, together, continue working and achieve a very positive progression in the world of paddle tennis. In addition, to be able to count on incredible companions / as in this mark, that are in the highest of the professional ranking, makes me have them a little like reference.

What goals have you scored with David García for this campaign?

This year we want to focus more on the 2014 World Padel Tour Circuit, preparing us in the best possible way to be as thin as possible. What we have clear is that one of the main challenges will be to try to enter in these tournaments with enough assiduity and, who knows, to achieve some presence in the Final Draw.

How would you define yourself within the track?

Well, I would say that I am a player with a lot of character and very competitive. I am one of those people who fight each ball with the maximum intensity.

What is your best shot and which one would you like to improve?

I think my best shot is the drive volley. On the other hand, the blow that I have proposed to improve significantly for this year is the auction.

Who has been the rival that has most impressed you and why?

The rival that undoubtedly impressed me most was Fernando Belasteguín in the Spanish Team Championship. My hand has never shaken so much, I felt I had to throw all the balls one centimeter away from the net. Yes, with the course of the meeting I was enjoying more and more.

What moment, what party, what anecdote do you remember with special affection?

One of the best moments of 2013, and also very exciting for what it represented to be there, was seeing myself rally alongside great players like Nerone, Reca, Godo Díaz, Belasteguin, ... And I did it just before I started playing my game. first match in the Final Draw, at the WPT Lisbon. We faced Maxi Sánchez and Sanyo Gutiérrez, which was an incredible experience.

Do you have any mania or any special ritual?

I have methods that I use to be focused on each point. I draw a symbol (MB) on one side of the blade and I always grip it in the same place, keeping the symbol on the side of the drive.

Where does your nickname Rayito come from?

Many people say that I am very fast on the track, but the main precursor of this nickname was Carlos Sarralde. Playing with him as a partner in the WPT Santander, in the middle of the game he encouraged me with a spontaneous "Vamos Rayito".

People from the Pádel Cabanillas Club have always been with you ... What have they supposed in your career?

They have supposed everything. They have helped me both in sports and personal. Without them I would not be in this situation right now. Every step I take I feel supported by a great club, which gives me all its support. There is a relationship between us that is unbeatable. I only have words of thanks to them and with whom I will surely always be linked.

How would you describe your first experiences in the Professional Circuit?

Hard, really. Many times I have sinned as a rookie when going to play a tournament of this type. But I love challenges and getting better year after year, tournament after tournament. Not everything has been hard. During the past campaign I have been able to meet very good people and, of course, I feel privileged to have shared these moments with them, players, colleagues, people who have offered me their help ...

What do you expect from the future of padel?

I would love to be able to say someday that the paddle will be Olympic. This would mean that most countries would know this sport and therefore increase the number of practitioners ... In short, I hope and want a growth of the paddle.

What message would you like to convey to the fans?

Thank you very much to all those who have spent a little time reading this interview and getting to know me a little more. His support for paddle is a fundamental piece for this sport to continue to develop and grow. We will see each other on the tracks, for sure.
