Padel World Press .- When we attend competitions and tournaments, we observe that paddle tennis players tend to be serious, concentrated, tense ... It is difficult to find 'smiles' between their faces. Why don't we smile when we play paddle tennis? If we all agree that paddle tennis has a playful component, why is it so difficult to play it while maintaining a positive attitude and enjoying the game?

The 'problem' is not in the adults who practice this sport but in the minors who increasingly have less fun playing paddle tennis, due to the 'pressure' they have from their parents, sponsors, 'unattainable ideals', distant goals, fears to not measure up and not be at the level of external demands and their own ... However, there are clear examples where the family and sports environment of the minor favors that they ENJOY playing paddle tennis ... This is the case of NOE NAVARRO, Catalan juvenile player , that NEVER LOSES HIS SMILE ... Why is it? I guess her parents, Salvador and Gemma, have a lot to say about it.

My intention and main objective of this article is to show the padel as a Funny game and point out the benefits that this entails.

«Laughter is the expression of an emotion due to various intellectual and affective elements, which is mainly shown in a series of more or less noisy aspirations, largely depending on the contractions of the diaphragm and accompanied by involuntary contractions of the facial muscles, resonance of the pharynx and palate veil. »

Benefits of laughter

According to several authors, the effects of laughter that occur in the body are multiple and are used to overcome both physical, psychological and social problems.

Physicists

  • Exercise: With each laughter they start up next to 400 muscles, including 15 of the face and some of the thorax, abdomen and stomach, which can only be exercised with laughter, which also helps to lose weight reactivating the lymphatic system.

In those moments, and due to the intensity of the exercise, each muscle group is stimulated as a gymnastic session would do ... In this sense, five minutes of laughter equals 45 minutes of aerobic exercise. Even some people manage to move their arms and legs while laughing. Others mention that with 15 minutes of laughter you get to burn as many calories as in a long race or a bike ride.

  • Massage: The spine and neck, where tensions usually accumulate, stretch. In addition, the spleen is stimulated and the toxins are eliminated. With this movement the diaphragm causes an internal massage that facilitates digestion by vibrating the liver and helps reduce fatty acids and toxic substances. It also prevents constipation and improves the elimination of bile.
  • Cleaning: The eyes are lubricated and cleaned with tears. The laughter vibrates the head and clears the nose and the ear. In addition, it is possible to clean the arterial walls of small clusters of cholesterol.
  • Oxygenation: Double the air enters the lungs, which improves breathing and increases tissue oxygenation by moving 12 liters of air instead of 6 which is the usual. The speed with which the empty air leaves the lungs multiplies, allowing the entry of oxygenated air at a higher speed.
  • Analgesic: Endorphins are secreted, a kind of morphines secreted by the brain, with high analgesic powers and that therefore mitigate pain; adrenaline, a component that greatly enhances creativity and imagination. Laughter also releases dopamine (which improves mood) and serotonin (which has calming effects). Therefore, five or six minutes of continuous laughter act as an analgesic. Hence, it is used for convalescence therapies that require rapid mobilization of the immune system.
  • Rejuvenating: By stretching and stimulating the muscles of the face, it also has a toning and anti-wrinkle effect, which delays skin aging.
  • Circulatory system: It is able to increase the speed of the blood, in addition to slightly raising the blood pressure. This clears the arterial walls of small clusters of cholesterol. The heart also increases its frequency and is capable of pumping every minute between 140 and up to 210 milliliters of blood, when the normal is 70.
  • Prevents heart attack: Since the internal massage produced by the spasms of the diaphragm also reaches the lungs and the heart, strengthening them.
  • Dream: Laughter generates a healthy fatigue that eliminates insomnia and helps reduce snoring.
  • Calories: For the release of adrenaline, there is a loss of calories.

Psychological

  • Eliminate stress: Certain hormones (endorphins and adrenaline) are produced that elevate the vital tone and make us feel more awake when counteracting migraines, skin diseases, hypertension, depression, heart problems, cancer, ulcers, alopecia, rheumatism, anorexia, bulimia and diarrhea
  • Relieve depression: Because you are more receptive and you see the positive side of things. The moments are important, not the past.
  • Exteriorization: Because through laughter people externalize emotions and feelings. Sometimes it is perceived as an energy that needs to be released, especially when we need to laugh and the social situation does not allow it.
  • Improves self-esteem.

Social

  • Contagious character: How many times have we been infected by the 'nervous laughter' of a classmate. Laughter causes laughter in people who are nearby, making a 'chain of laughter'.
  • Facilitation of socially uncomfortable situations: Many of us can get nervous in certain situations, well, laughter can 'relax' us and allow us to continue with the activity we had planned.
  • Communicative power of humor: It is well known that a communicative person uses humor to 'reach' the listener, capture their attention and establish an affective and positive relationship with the receiver.
  • The best way to break the ice: In situations where there is difficulty in establishing effective communication due to a high level of tension, laughter and humor facilitates the initiation of this communication.
  • Improve interpersonal relationships: And of course, having a positive, happy person by your side, who is usually smiling at every moment, facilitates and improves relationships with others.

And remember ... ALWAYS HAVE FUN playing paddle tennis.
