This is Pádel - Mari Carmen Villaba has fun in 'Al Resto'

As we have already said, the program 'Esto es Pádel', a space co-produced by Padel World Press y Capital Radio, will have a very special section this season. Together with the partners of Clínicas J. Cuenca, we will be able to know in a more intimate and close way to many of the main actors of this wonderful sport. What did Mari Carmen Villalba tell us?

Padel World Press.- 30 has recently completed years, has that nature to speak so typical of the south. He was born and raised in Estepona (Málaga) and is living one of the best moments of his career in the world of paddle tennis. Seated in the 15 number position of the WPT Women's Circuit Ranking along with Alba Galán, Mari Carmen Villalba He spoke of his beginnings, of his changes of couple, of the good roll between players and of the differences with respect to his companions of the Male Circuit in 'This is Paddle'.

Not being able to dedicate himself professionally to tennis meant "A nailed thorn" that led him to try with the paddle. "I remember that as a child I used to spend my day on the Estepona CD playing tennis," said Villalba, who owes his love for the sport to his father, but also to his sister. "My father played tennis and he transmitted that passion to us. I started accompanying my sister to training until I had to practice, "he said amused. However, the costasoleña could not be devoted to it professionally and when he started studying, he left it.

The first time, he accompanied a companion to play paddle tennis

It was at that moment when the paddle came to his life. A friend asked him to accompany her to play and discovered, words of his, that "he was not bad". In fact, she attended a Women and Paddle Congress held in Córdoba, where she met Clara Siverio, Anita Fernández de Ossó and even heard a presentation by Eli Amatriaín.

Since then, he could not leave the shovel. He moved to Madrid seven years ago to train professionally and study a Master's degree in the meantime. "That first year was a little crazy," he said with a smile. Then he played with Anita Fernández, then he played with Alba Galán, later with Carla Mesa and, in the end, his path was once again joined to that of Galán.

Together with Alba Galán, enjoy inside and outside the track

"With Carla I did not enjoy the paddle. Alba gives me tranquility and I enjoy inside and outside the track, "he explained in 'Esto es Pádel'. The Estepona player is happy both with her personal evolution (she is now less defensive in her game) and with the change of partner. For her, Galán "has skills that few of us have, he has a gift".

At the time they stopped being a couple, they remained friends and now both have a good relationship with the rest of the players in the WPT Circuit. "There is good vibes among all of us, we travel a lot together".

Finally, there was also time to talk about the male players. "You compare yourself to them when you fall in the first round or you lose money or you earn very little. I teach on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between four and five hours a day ... We have many fixed expenses. Unless you are from the sixth to the top, it is normal that you give classes to pay them. We have the same expenses as men ... I am unworthy, "he said, already in a somewhat more serious tone.

As a contribution to the 'Al Resto' project, a nice solidarity initiative in favor of Playground Foundation whereby each guest will give away a personal item destined for the Big Charity Raffle to be held at the 'Al Resto' Paddle Tournament, Mari Carmen Villaba gave one of her Prince shovels. She, in return, received her 'Baby Pelón'.

Then we leave you with the video of the full interview.
