The always interesting articles by Andrea Cañas Onzain, a renowned Nutritional Coach, who will once again tell us about the importance of what she defines as the 'Invisible Training': nutrition.

Padel World Press .- After a while without updating this section, we are going to talk about something very important for everyone and more importantly for people who exercise on a regular basis.

Before dedicating myself to the world of nutrition, I was, for several years, Director of a famous Aesthetic Center in Madrid.

And although it seems that these two worlds have nothing to do, they are closely related because, as the famous phrase says: "We are what we eat." Therefore, what we see on the outside is the result of what we have on the inside.

Many times you have seen someone with great skin, without wrinkles, without pimples…. And it is true that in many cases it is the product of superb skin care, but let me assure you that 75% of the state of a skin has to do with the nutrients it has inside and how we feed it. After all, the skin is the largest organ we have.

So today we are going to see some foods rich in nutrients that have a lot to do with the skin, their health and their good looks.

We all know beta-carotene, antioxidants or Vitamin C, but surely not everyone knows axtansanthin or lycopene. Well, let's go there:

Lycopene is a pigment that gives the tomato its characteristic red color. It is a very powerful antioxidant that at the skin level creates a photo-protective film that helps the skin to tolerate better exposure to the sun. For those who like to sunbathe, or who live in coastal areas or the countryside, it is great because it is a natural way to create a protective barrier.

Lycopene is found in tomato and all its derivatives such as tomato sauces or tomato soups.

Another one of those ingredients or nutrients is, as I've told you, beta-carotene. It is the star ingredient that helps us get better color when sunbathing. But its unknown benefit is that it regulates the pH of the skin, the famous ph 5.5, thanks to the fact that it rehydrates the skin and helps a stable renewal of the cells, which slows down aging.

Foods rich in beta-carotene are carrots, squash and spinach although you may not believe it, among others.

The astaxsantina can come from two sides: we have the vegetal astaxsantina that is a millenarian seaweed, in fact dates from before the time of the dinosaurs. It is said to be the most powerful antioxidant that exists and the most resistant since it has resisted all the changes that have occurred on Planet Earth. There is also an animal origin, it is the pigment that makes fish or shellfish pink. At the cutaneous level, it is a great defender against free radicals (due to its antioxidant properties), defends cutaneous molecules from the inside out.

The famous Vitamin C that is well known for being a great defender of the immune system but, at the skin level, is a great help for the skin to produce collagen that is not only good for the skin and makes it look fuller and juicier but also In addition, collagen is the connective regido that maintains our body.

The foods with the highest concentration of Vitamin C are citrus fruits and green leafy vegetables.

And finally, antioxidants in general ... But let's see their function from the inside out because they not only protect the skin, they protect the whole body. To understand its function we will understand the function of free radicals.

Imagine a molecule in our body with two electrons, the body walking happily. Suddenly, he meets a free radical, which only has one electron that is alone and what does it do? ... It robs our precious molecule one of its own, decompensating it and causing its death and consequently what we call cell damage.

There are many different sources of free radicals. One of them we can not get rid of because the simple act of breathing makes our body fill with free radicals and athletes having more circulatory oxygen flow even more. Then there are others such as poor nutrition, second in the ranking, sun, tobacco, pollution, stress ...

Of all, the only one we can control is food and therefore we must not only take care of if we give the body an extra antioxidant so that our molecules and cells do not suffer excessively. An oxidized body is a body that is not healthy, that ages before and that falls ill before.

So we are going to fight the oxidation in the best possible way and protect ourselves a lot, especially in these times of the year when the immune system is most affected.
