Reviewing our newspaper library we find this interesting article that Emilio Suárez, Bachelor of Science in Physical Activity and Sports, Personal Trainer and Padel Physical Trainer, offered us through his colleagues Physical Preparation Paddle.

Padel World Press .- This sport evolves by leaps and bounds. If we look back and compare the paddle of 10 years ago with the one played today we can see that it has undergone great and important changes in every way, from the type of game to the materials used.

If we look at the materials, for example, we can say that the paddle tennis has been updated in search of the improvement of our sport, with last generation courts and blades with high quality materials. In the case of the type of game, evolution has come due to the prominence that factors that were forgotten are having.

The current paddle is the sum of four factors: technical, tactical, physical and psychological. Each of them could be the leg of a table, on top of which the paddle tennis player stands. The player who gives the highest importance to each of the factors will be in balance. The moment you neglect one of them, the table will become unbalanced and your game will have weaknesses that can be exploited by rivals.

The technique

It may be the factor that is given the most importance, especially in amateur paddle tennis. Players who are new to this sport only analyze it from a technical point of view. In the case of professional players, this factor is more than mastered, trying to apply and adapt a basic technical pattern to the specific characteristics and type of game of each player.

If we look at the same blow (for example, the backhand volley) of the best players in the world we can see that there are quite a few differences when it comes to executing it. Therefore, once we are dominating all the technical gestures we have to know how to adapt the general pattern to our needs on the court.

The Tactic

It has taken time to understand that paddle tennis is a team sport, in which there is important decision making. In the World Paddle Tour Circuit, couples use different tactics and strategies depending on the rival in front of them. It is a big mistake to play all opponents the same way.

The tactic It begins by planning the matches with the aim of making the most of our virtues and hiding our defects, as well as trying to attack the opponent's weaknesses and avoid their potentials.

It is important to know how to read the meeting and modify our tactics and strategy depending on the course of it. The same blows do not always come out well for us, the weather conditions are not always the same, the opponent is not always equally successful ... so the tactic must be flexible and modifiable. Winning or losing a game sometimes depends on the ability to adapt to it ... And that can and should be trained.

Psychology

Psychology, possibly, it is the leg of the table that is hardly worked, especially in amateur paddle tennis. Professional players are aware of the importance of this factor and incorporate a sports psychologist into their work team.

Still, not all the time required is spent on it. Although all the legs of the table depend on each other, if it fails it exponentially conditions the rest. A player who does not have the peace of mind and a clear mind to make the correct decision at a critical point will never be able to exploit his best technical shots or the correct tactics.

The physical

If there is something that has marked the evolution of this sport is the physical aspect. The current paddle is fast and powerful and is played at a very high intensity for more than 3 hours of the match. A paddle player who does not work the physical parcel may never be in the elite.

The physical preparation It is not just a matter of the players who play the World Paddle Tour Circuit. Any player, regardless of their level, who wants to improve their game will have to dedicate time to carry out specific physical preparation.

Usually we attribute failures in our game to technical aspects ... We believe that we have failed a ball because we have not performed well one of the phases of the hit (set, impact, termination ...) but if we analyze all the action we see that the epicenter of the failure is in bad displacement prior to impact.

Therefore, as padel players we have to pay attention and dedicate time to each of the legs of the paddle table. To get the most out of our game we must have the 4 legs solid and stable, thinking of the whole without individualizing in any.

The development of the physical condition determines the correct technique of the gesture, this in turn will condition the tactics and both will require a mental strength to know what actions and decisions to take at each moment of the game.
