Padel World Press .- In the practice of paddle tennis, the most advanced players use several handles and they change them according to the circumstances of the game and the stroke that they intend to make ... And that allows them to adapt the inclination of the blade to the stroke they wish to execute. But at first, we will only use one handle: the continental or 'hammer'.

This grip is chosen because it will allow us to make flat and cut shots more easily and naturally, which are the most used during a match. By using a handle exclusively, we will have fewer things to do at the time of executing and it will allow us to focus on other aspects such as preparations or movements ... And it is that at the beginning everything goes very fast and trying to get a player to change handles only! serves to add more difficulty to learning !!

The versatility of this grip is determined by the fact that, when making the strokes, we adopt a lateral position to better maintain balance and push the ball. Thus, when the racket passes in front of the body it is completely straight, which allows us, through a flat blow, that we can pass the ball more easily.

We are going to expose some tricks to guide us when it comes to picking up the shovel correctly:

- We will give the shovel to our partner and, while he holds it by the head, he will give it to us with the profile looking up. We will take it as if we were shaking hands with a person.

- Leaving the thumb on one side of the blade and the other 4 fingers on the other, we will go down the profile until we reach the grip.

- We will place the palm of the hand in the plane of the blade. Next, we will slide the palm of the hand towards the handle and, when we arrive, we will close the hand around it.

It is also known as a 'hammer' because, with the correct grip, the blade must be aligned with the arm with the face profile positioned vertically. In this way we could drive a nail with the part of the profile that is focused towards the ground.

Finally, we give you this last advice: The correct grip is one of the main obstacles that the player encounters when progressing, since if they start playing with an incorrect one, it will limit their progression. We must pay close attention to grasp the paddle correctly when we start to play.

As we move forward and gain in security, it will be time to try new things ... But for that there will be time.

Now ... Enjoy the paddle!
