Padel World Press .- After a somewhat turbulent time, in which the FEP seemed to have been left out of the international scene, our country begins to regain its rightful role in the world of paddle tennis And, on this path, the first step has been to join a working body chaired by Monaco and in which the federations of France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Lithuania are integrated. José Pérez, vice president of the FEP, will be the representative of Spain in the aforementioned Commission.

Ramón Morcillo, President of the FEP, stated: “We are working to configure the new framework of institutional relations of the FEP according to the role that we must have as the leading power in this sport. This appointment is only a first step in that line of work that we have marked from the new management team".

The maximum representative of the Spanish Federation met during the Barcelona Master dispute with Mario Hernando, Director of the World Padel Tour, and with Luigi Carraro, President of the FIP. At this meeting, the federation members agreed to underline the importance of the FEP increasing its weight in the international organization. "The FEP has a consolidated model for the development of paddle tennis, from the grassroots to the professional field in which, in addition, it highlights the magnificent work that our territories do. In this sense, we have a lot to contribute to the global expansion of this sport. Spain is the first power in paddle tennis and we know that The enormous potential that we have to show is directly proportional to the commitment and responsibility towards the paddle that we must assume".

As has been learned, the return of Spain to one of the working bodies of the FIP is only one of the measures to establish the new framework of institutional relations of the FEP. Another of them It will be to debate and approve, if applicable, the departure from Spain of the European Paddle Federation (FEPA), a body not recognized by the Spanish authorities or by the FIP. Ramón Morcillo assured: “We are very clear that the FEP must always work for this sport within the framework of the officiality and that is exactly what we have proposed to the Assembly. It is important that this issue is brought to debate at the Assembly, a space in which all Spanish paddle tennis is represented, and that there we present the different points of view and make a decision ”.

Could it be understood that, in order to return to the FIP, there was a condition to address the possible departure from FEPA? The president of the Spanish Federation explained: “They are two independent measures that we have wanted to address in these first weeks of office because they have far-reaching economic and institutional implications for our federation. That is why we want to get them resolved as soon as possible. There is no problem with FEPA or any other entity; Furthermore, we understand that it is positive that there are groups of continental scope, but any model in that sense must be developed without abandoning the official scene. I would suggest to FEPA that it review its position and rethink its alignment with the International Paddle Federation. We are ready to work with FEPA and the IFJ to find points of agreement ”.

We will be very attentive to the next movements. At the moment, we already know that the continuity of Spain in the European Federation will be one of the main issues that will be discussed in the General Assembly of the FEP on October 31, which will take place online given the current health situation .
