Padel World Press - After knowing the official calendarhe of the season, World Padel Tour has announced the renewal of the tournament formats breaking down the Open category in two different tests; Open 1000 and Open 500.

One of the great novelties with which the organization has delighted us World Padel Tour It has been the restructuring of the tournament formats, which will be divided into five different categories; Master Final, Master, Open 1000, Open 500 and Challenger.

Final Master

As in the 2022 season, the venue that will host the Final Master It will be Barcelona, from December 14 to 17. And it is that he record of assistance that has been achieved this year in the Palau sant jordi with more than 12.000 people has left no room for doubt. So the city of Barcelona will once again be protagonists in the final Masters tournament in 2023.

Master

The Master category will be, once again, the one with the highest score. There will be a total of five Masters during the season beginning with the starting gun in Abu Dhabi, will be followed by Marbella, Valladolid, the Master of Madrid and, finally, that of Buenos Aires.

The format of the Master category does not change anything, there will be no exemptions in the round of 28, resulting in a total of XNUMX couples in the final draw, in addition to the four classified from the quality, leaving a total of 32 pairs.

The difference with previous years is found in the previous rounds. The pre-qual and pre-rounds disappear to make way for a single Qualy phase. The men's box will complete it 48 couples and the feminine 24 couples, fighting for four places for the final table.

  • Winners: 2.000 points

Open 1000

A total of 18 destinations will host the format open 1000; La Rioja, Chile, Paraguay, Granada, Stockholm, Brussels, Vigo, Copenhagen, Vienna, France, Valencia, Malaga, Finland, Germany, Amsterdam, Menorca, Malmö and Mexico.

This new Open 1000 format will have a different frame shape in the men's and women's categories. And it is that the final Men's table will have the same format as a Master, without exemptions in the round of sixteen, leaving a total of 28 classified couples, in addition to the four in the qualy round. The women's box does not undergo changes, 24 couples will form the main draw, plus the four couples of the Qualy. The seeded couples, as always, will debut in round of XNUMX

Open 500

In the Open 500 category we will have a total of three tournaments; Reus, Alicante and Santander. World Padel Tour communicated that the creation of this category "has as its objective create an intermediate category between the Open 1000 and the Challenger both in terms of scoring and economically".

The Open 500 will have the same format in both the male and female categories with 24 qualified couples, in addition to the four that come from the Qualy phase. And as in the old Open, the four seeded couples will start the tournament in the round of XNUMX.

This tournament format will not have participation restrictions by ranking and will have an average score for players who are in the top 30. The points in this type of tournament will be:

  • Finalists: 300 points
  • Semifinalists: 180 points

Challenger

The Challenger category does not vary compared to last season. We still do not have the exact dates for this type of evidence, but in a few days they will come to light.
