Padel World Press .- In general, we usually spend half our lives organizing our day to day, from the moment we get up until we go to bed ... Even asleep we do not stop 'thinking about' situations, meetings, pending tasks, the children's school and things, many things that we have to do. As we can see, we spend most of the day 'planning things' but, nevertheless, do we plan our games and our training sessions? paddle?

In that sense, if we only play paddle tennis to have fun and to spend some time practicing sports and interacting with our friends, the answer is 'No' ... But what if we play and train to 'win' and move up the rankings from our club, from our school or from our Federation?

In this article I am going to talk about the importance of good and correct planning to improve our paddle tennis and, with it, to arrive in the best physical, technical and mental conditions to those important meetings.

The planning of Psychological training it is integrated into the 'General Training Plan' and adapts to its phases, thus contributing to the achievement of the best results. The mental aspect is not an element that a paddle tennis player can do without when competing and, therefore, it should be noted that the mental training is planned in sync with the Physical training.

The planning of the Psychological Training takes into account and adapts not only to the periodization of the training plan, but also to the nature of the sport and its specific characteristics. Its two specific objectives are:

a) Promote the personal development of the athlete.

b) Maximize sports performance, according to the individual needs of the athlete.

At the same time, it should not be overlooked that a mental skills planning program for increasing sports performance is developed according to the following three objectives:

1.- Learn and practice general mental skills, useful for optimizing sports performance.

2.- Adapt the skills learned to sports performance in the paddle.

3.- Use of the mental skills practiced, according to the needs of each athlete, in the real competition situation.

The content of the mental training program is based on the three types of mental skills: basic, specific and individual specific to the competition. These contents are sequential, that is, they must overlap with each other and not be trained in isolation.

The first step involves learning and practicing general or basic mental skills, useful for optimizing athletic performance. Groups or sections are included in 7: Behavior modification techniques, relaxation, energizing, positive self-messages, concentration, visualization and breathing.

The second step consists of adapting basic mental skills to the sport in question, in our case, paddle tennis. Here, the essential thing is the application of psychological techniques to sports performance, first on a purely mental level and then as part of training and routine practice.

To finish, we will have to know the weak and strong points of each of the paddle players. Psychological techniques must be integrated until they are practiced in an automated way, as one more element of general preparation, to optimize performance.

These contents are aimed at analyzing the individual differences between different paddle tennis players and adapting the psychological techniques to each one of them. For this, simulations of competitive situations and participation in different competitions will be planned.

Thus, it is very necessary to have a training plan and competition calendar to be able to 'adapt training' to said planning. With this, we will arrive at the competitions in optimal conditions so that our performance during the matches is as close to our potential as padel players. The best time to plan is now, when the competition season ends and we organize the 'new campaign' or 'sports course'.

Remember, proper planning will help you to be more secure, improve confidence in your game and enjoy each training and padel match. Take paper and pencil and ... Hands on!

I already have my plan, and you?
