On this occasion, we wanted to rescue an article that the companions of the Hello Paddle League Blog. In it, they talked about the 'dangers' that this wonderful sport can present and how to help prevent them.

Padel World Press .- The number of paddle fans continues to grow due to its 'easy and fun' character. Easy, because it does not require a great physical preparation or technique to start practicing it; fun, because it is played in a group, the rules are simple and it offers many variations ...

But those two characteristics that make it so attractive are those that can also make it 'dangerous'. The greatest risk we have in injuries. By being 'easy and fun' we lose respect for it, so we don't usually prepare ourselves properly for its practice.

Let's review some points that can help avoid problems:

The material:

One day they propose to play a game of paddle tennis and the only thing they ask us is 'if we have a shovel'. It is clear that it is a necessary element and that its choice can be important to avoid injuries such as the dreaded epicondylitis… But there is also another garment that is often not properly cared for and that is essential: shoes. An inappropriate shoe (as they are usually used for running or walking) puts us at risk of suffering one of the most common injuries in paddle tennis: an ankle sprain. We need a shoe that allows a certain glide along with good control of the lateral movements of the foot. Currently there are already several brands that manufacture specific footwear for the paddle.

The warm-up:

Like any sports activity, paddle tennis requires a good warm-up before starting its practice, especially if we take into account that it is a sport in which we are competing almost from the first moment and in which sudden actions of high intensity and high impact. The warm-up should not consist of a few simple runs or movements to raise your heart rate a little. ANDIt is necessary to warm the muscles and joints well, which is where most of the injuries in this sport are based.

Hydration:

Insufficient hydration will considerably increase the risk of injury (especially muscle injury), while reducing performance and making recovery difficult. It is therefore essential to have a good hydration, before, during and after. And do not trust our 'feelings', since thirst is always a late warning.

Physical training:

Although we have said that paddle tennis does not require a great physical condition to start (obviously, it is not the same at a certain level of competition), better preparation will better protect us from these injuries. On the other hand, an appropriate weight and a good muscular balance will reduce the load on the joints, tendons and spine and will allow us to enjoy ourselves without pain or shock. An adequate physical preparation will make our practice, as well as fun, healthy.

To finish, it should be remembered that the practice of paddle tennis, like any other sport, is very positive for our health as long as it has a fundamental characteristic: that it is continuous, habitual. That is another of the positive points of paddle tennis, which 'hooks'. That is why we must watch out for all these small details (which are sometimes common sense but we relax excessively), which will allow your enjoyment, your hobby and your health to go hand in hand ... cut off that hopeful start and what it is in your hand to prevent them.

From here we will continue to give you practical advice and information that we hope will be useful for you.

We wish you many sets and victorious parties, but above all happy.
