Padel World Press .- The school day does not start from the moment you step on the track or, at least, it should not be like that in my opinion, but must have a previous work of programming each training, week, month, quarter or season. There each teacher has his booklet and his method. I recommend using some support so that nothing escapes us. There are classics with their ring binder or handwritten index cards, those who think that a picture is worth a thousand words and use a blackboard, the most technological, with a tablet or computer, or simply with a post-it. Not leaving anything to improvisation is the secret to offering quality work.

In my case, I get help from files that I file on the computer, with training sessions that I have been developing since my beginnings as a coach ten years ago (occasionally from a blackboard to visually reinforce the work) and that I am modifying, adapting and updating according to the level of the player or group, the moment of the season as well as the constant evolution that the paddle is having. For this you have to recycle with courses, conferences, and above all, watching a lot of paddle tennis.

Being clear that the school day begins long before I step onto the court, I am already at the club (in my case at the Club Padel Soto Torrejón, my second home). I always arrive well in advance, I like to soak up everything that surrounds the club by chatting with fellow receptionists, other coaches, the center director, users and players. You have to be there to know and know. A good breakfast if it is in the morning or a coffee if it is in the afternoon in the club restaurant to activate body and mind and get to work.

Before the first player arrives, I take the material and 'mount' the track, placing what I will use. I can't conceive that they have to wait for me, and once we are all there, and after a very brief conversation to break the ice, getting interested in their daily life (weekend, work, studies, family, etc.), I inform them of the work we are going to to be carried out and with what objective. For me, this part is essential since a good coach must not only know about paddle tennis, he has to know how to 'get there' and generate an ideal working environment, motivate the group and correct without being blunt. At this time you have to be the moderator, the teacher, the psychologist, the friend and the link between the players. That, or you assume it and enjoy it, or you will fall into monotony and with a complex of a ball-throwing machine. Enjoy it!

The class session was divided into three parts:

Warm up

General warm-up with joint mobility combined with specific paddle exercises such as coordination ladder or technical gestures with or without a ball. It is also a good time to make some fun game (eg, volley-paddle, game with two balls).

Main part

- Interplay of rally with a lot of continuity, with different strokes or sequences looking for sensations with the ball.

- Games conditioned by different rules that limit certain actions (eg, you can only throw a balloon if the ball touches the wall), games rewarding or penalizing certain shots (eg, failure of the double point tray to the contrary), games forcing tactical situations (eg, seek to volle a central target to open gaps in the sides), or under marker pressure (eg, each game starts in 15-40).

- Launches of cars to debug the technique, introduce new shots or routines to our game.

Back to the calm

Stretching, analysis and clarification of the session.

Once the day is over, I say goodbye to the club but I still haven't considered the day over. I get home and if they have earned it I like to send a motivating message to the players via WhatsApp or reassuring if they have a competition nearby that makes them restless. If the training has been spectacular, I can even share it on a social network to make it clear how proud I am of them.

Now the day is over and the curtain goes down. Tomorrow we return with more classes and more paddle tennis. I Love this Game !!
