At the end of July, we were all surprised by statements by Miguel Medina, President of the Spanish Federation of Paddle, in which he was very contrary to the situation of 'privilege' which, in his opinion, enjoyed the Circuit World Paddle Tour.

Padel World Press .- It's official. It is not a rumor or a mere speculation. Just two weeks later, we were able to know the true reach of those words: Estrella Damm has withdrawn its main sponsorship of the XI World Championship by National Teams and Pairs, which precisely organizes the FEP.

That has been the consequence of some statements by Miguel Medina to the colleagues of the EFE Agency, in which he said that it was contrary to World Paddle Tour: "I was absolutely outside the Federations. It is obvious that there is no sporting sense that there is a professional competition that is outside the Federation. In football, basketball or handball there are leagues and professional tournaments integrated within their respective federation. "

In his words, the president of the FEP added that: "Although what the WPT is doing is in the best interest of the padel, it is clearly improvable since, in my opinion, it does not seem right to me how things are done up to now".

Just having knowledge of this news, and before the comments and rumors that arose in social networks, from Padel World Press we got in touch with one of the most responsible of Estrella Damm in this area. Very clear and forceful in his statements, he confirmed that: "We will withdraw the sponsorship of the World Championship of Mallorca and any other initiative of the Federation, such as the Impulse Project. As soon as we had proof of Miguel Medina's statements, we contacted him to request a justification and explanation to them. He even had opportunities and an opportunity to retract those words. By not doing so clearly, we decided to make this decision. "

After his firm and determined commitment to sports for more than 15 years, after his important investment to get both professional (WPT) and amateur players (Star Damm Circuit), as well as young promises included in a program led by his Foundation , can enjoy a reference competition, from this company confirmed to Padel World Press that: "We do not trust a Federation or a President who does not trust in a project as important and ambitious as ours. Paddle is a very special sport for us and, therefore, we will continue to reach all the agreements that we consider appropriate to contribute to the development of the paddle both inside and outside our borders ".

After speaking with several players, representatives of brands and companies related to the world of paddle, the message was very similar in all cases. They do not explain why the FEP adopts such uncompromising and interventionist positions with such frequency. It will be a subject of research and analysis by Padel World Press in the coming weeks.

What will happen now? How will this decision affect the normal development of the 2014 World Championship? We will remain very attentive to the evolution of events and hope that everything that happens will be, solely and exclusively, for the good of the paddle.
