As Carlos Gardel's beautiful tango says, it's never too late for 'Volver' ... That's what Mauri Andrini did in the Preview of Córdoba Challenger. After having been a great promise of the Argentine padel in Junior Category, he decided to hang up the shovel to focus on the studios but he never stopped feeling inside the bug for returning to the tracks ... And that's what just happened,

Padel World Press .- Club coordinator David Lloyd Chigwell (London), and director of the Hello Padel project, the Argentine is a clear example that things do not happen just because. Nothing is accidental and, in his case, it is very likely that he himself did not dream of everything that he is experiencing at this moment. That's the greatness of the sport ... There's always a second chance.

"Hello everyone.

After playing in Argentina from my 7 years to professional, the 18 decided to change course and focus on my University Studies. I had been away from professional paddle for a decade now, and who was going to tell me what was going to be in the fantastic city of London where padel would give me the 'rematch'.

Daniel Dios was the one who invited me to play my first game at the Padel Club London and that's where this adventure started. Tom Murray, Secretary of the British Padel Federation, proposed me as Head Padel Coordinator of the David Lloyd Chigwell Club and that's when I started playing the British Circuit. I did not take long to reach the 1 number of the British Padel Tour Ranking, which gave me an excellent opportunity to participate in the World Paddle Tour events.

It is not easy to compete again, and even less to do it with the very high level of padel that currently exists in Spain. However, with much effort, dedication and training, I am one of those who thinks that nothing is impossible to achieve.

On Sunday, May 17, I participated in the Córdoba Challenger with Gustavo Sarmiento as a teammate. We won the first Pre-Preview match, against Adrià Mercadal and the great Nauzet Guedes but we did not have the same luck in the second, in which we lost to Javier Pérez Morillas-José Rico Dasi, who proposed a perfect game strategy.

Feeling the pressure to compete at this level is hard for a player who, like me, has been away from high competition for a long time. In spite of everything, I must say that it is motivating to continue training and, in that way, to be at the level of the players who participate in these tests.

This year, the idea I have is to try to play the largest number of World Padel Tour events, although for someone like me, who lives outside of Spain, this implies an extra effort, time and money for travel ... I have to say that I really enjoy going to Spain to compete, sharing moments with old friends from my sporting childhood, all of them suffering and whom I thank for their contribution and support in my return to the slopes. Among them, I have to mention some like Vale Pavón, Sanyo Gutiérrez, Ramiro Moyano, Cristian Germán Gutiérrez, Guga Vázquez and other people who were also present at some point during my return to paddle tennis, such as Claudio Vairo.

Greetings to all and see you on the tracks.

Mauri Andrini. "
