Padel World Press .- If we had to define it, it could be said that the balance of a shovel is the point where its weight is concentrated ... And that is why it is so important: knowing how to choose the correct balance will allow us to gain control and it will give our wrist a better rest.

The question is: How many types of balance can we find? The companions of Paddelea divided them into three groups:

a) High Balance: In this case, the weight is closer to the head of the blade, so it moves away from the handle. In his favor, it should be noted that it allows to gain power but 'demands' more to our wrist because we have to do much more power to hold it. We usually find it in those diamond-shaped models.

b) Average Balance: Or also called 'centered'. In this type, the weight is a little closer to the handle, which allows for better control and handling of the blade. Although we find it in teardrop-shaped models, it can also be present in some rounds.

c) Low Balance: The weight will be located very close to the handle. We will feel a great control over the shovel but we will lose power when making defensive shots and volleys. We find it in models with round shape and, for its manageability, it is usually an option very chosen by both amateurs with a great touch and those who are taking their first steps in the world of paddle.

Can you calculate the balance?

The answer is yes but before explaining how it is done, from Paddelea They wanted to highlight a very common error when it comes to knowing what the concrete weight of the shovel is. In that sense, they pointed out that the calculation is based on their free weight plus the overgrips that need to be incorporated. For example: if a blade weighs 370 grams but a total of 4 overgrips are added, the weight will rise to 386 grams.

The balance of the blade is extracted from the center of gravity and from the distance to the end of the handle of the blade. "A trick homemade, but effective and fast, consists of putting the shovel on the table, and go pushing the handle off the table in perpendicular and little by little. If the blade is overcome, and it looks like it is going to fall, the point where it is suspended indicates the center of gravity. Measuring the distance you get the balance. "
