During his time at the José Martínez Memorial, our teammate Daniel Gamarra Peñalver was able to speak with the great player from Madrid, one of the new Pádel Trotters. With great enthusiasm, he hopes to improve positions in the Ranking and continue to maintain his growth and evolution as a player.

Padel World Press .- Just a few hours ago, in the company of Ernesto Moreno, the Adidas Team member made his debut in the Gijón Open, the first round of the 2016 season on the World Paddle Tour Circuit.

After their 6-3 and 6-4 triumph against Andrés Britos-Javier Escalante, they already know that in the Round of 16 they will have to measure their strengths with those of Maxi Grabiel-Ramiro Moyano, in which they will be one of the greatest matches of the day.

Our colleague Daniel Gamarra wanted to rescue the interview he had with Peter in Alicante, where they talked about challenges, dreams and motivations for the campaign that has just begun.

How was your preseason?

A tough preseason, we started the January 15. We did the physical part with Rubén Portes while the technical part was done with Ramiro Choya. The truth is that I look stronger than last year. Physically I look better but it has been a long preseason and I think we all need to compete.

What are your objectives for the new season?

The main objective is to improve the goals of last season. We will start with partner number 15, so our challenge will be to reach some rooms. We want to become one of the top seeds, to be a more regular couple. This season, Ernesto has come to live in Madrid, which makes the link faster. We get to know each other better and that is very positive.

How do you face the first tournament of the year, the Gijón Open?

Excited, since the season finally begins ... At last we will be able to put into practice everything we have trained. The first tournament is always caught with hope but we do not want to go with anxiety. We are calm.

What can be the couple that the bell in this campaign start?

Sanyo and Paquito have everything to be the 1 number, both by level and potential. It is the couple that could unseat Bela and Lima. Neither can we forget Miguel and Juani ... Juani is a crack, who plays very well to the right. They are going to be a very strong couple.

What do you think of the Jose Martinez Memorial?

The Memorial is a tournament that I love. It is a pleasure to pass through the test of Pilar de la Horadada. I have played it for several years and I have many friends there. The people are super grateful and, the event, every year is better. Outside the WPT is the most important event- I hope the Spanish Championship will be organized as the Memorial.
