Padel World Press .- Throughout the years, the firm has been configured as an essential name to understand the evolution of paddle in our country. The capital of Spain was one of the first places that knew how to see the potential of this sport and, in that sense, you could say that The history of Mystica and the history of padel in our national territory go hand in hand. That is why we started a report in which we will go through the different stages of the brand over time. In this first article we will review his first years in the market talking with one of its founders: David Morales.

The first years of Mystica

Mystica was founded in 2002, being one of the first Spanish firms to launch on the padel market, at a time when manufacturers could count on the fingers of one hand. David Morales, together with a group of friends and partners such as Óscar Izquierdo, Jorge Martínez, Dani Gutiérrez, Pedro Rubio and Javier Elipe, decided to create this new brand, whose purpose was to offer the best possible equipment to fans whose number kept growing .

Each one of them contributed their experience and knowledge ... And it is that some were monitors in prestigious clubs, high level players, members of the Paddle Federation and even Javier Elipe had a blade factory, which was where the first test models were made.

Once decided by the name 'Mystica', the first shovels and garments were designed, which did not finish convincing, since the design of the corporate image could reach "scare", as David Morales related with laughter: "The designs of the first garments combined with the logo made that the shirts look like a heavy group. "

However, In a very short time, Mystica began to expand in the Community of Madrid, especially through monitors and the signing of young players from the 'Madrileña' ... Little by little they became an important name among the "Club players", as defined by Morales. That was the commercial start of the firm in the world of padel.

The manufacture of the blades was very complicated to carry out in Spain at that time and, therefore, was carried out first in Argentina (with Emilio Forcher) and Pakistan (with Drop Shot) to subsequently move to China , which was where higher quality standards were achieved.

Mystica was evolving along with the paddle in Spain, beginning to distribute in large areas and specialized stores, also growing its facilities and the number of workers in it. In this development process they carried out the sponsorship of selections such as the United States or Switzerland as well as the signing of some professional players important.

Over time, some partners left the brand, as was the case of Dani Gutiérrez and Pedro Rubio, although there was the entry of Javier Izquierdo. In 2011, it changed hands with the purchase by Cristóbal Bohórquez.

David Morales still remembers his time in Mystica with a lot of love, As he told us at the end of the interview: "It was a great experience. I remember her fondly. I still think of Mystica as a son and, in fact, I was very excited about the signing of Paquito Navarro and that he won his first WPT title with a Mystica shovel. "

David Morales, a history of success in the paddle

David Morales started competing in the well-known Club Alameda with 12 or 13 years and, after finishing his studies and military service, he began to play alongside Toni Villarejo, with which he won his first championships. Then he went on to form a excellent duo with Richi de las Heras, with whom he conquered numerous titles both in 2ª and 1ª in Madrid, which made him jump to the Professional Circuit.

Once he began to reconcile his work life with sports, he started to play with Dani Gutiérrez, with which he was crowned as number 1 of the Madrilenian Federation, winning more than 40 tournaments and showing his talent among the best players in the world.

Once removed it was Madrid Minor's coach during 9 years, getting 15 National Championships. In turn, it was proclaimed Champion of Spain and the World in the Category + 35.

Currently, he continues competing in the League of Veterans, manages the Club de Pádel Cristalia and is a partner of the companies Syltek y M3 Sport Coaching. The last one is a training company that counts among its ranks players and top-level players, such as the twins Sánchez Alayeto and Ale Galán.
