Just a few days ago, through a funny video, it was confirmed that the young member of Team Adidas would play in 2016 with Alba Galán. We wanted to know how this promising union was forged and what challenges have been set for a season that is exciting for them.
Padel World Press .- They have already been partners before. They have known each other for many years and, very complementary within the track, they have won among many other titles the last three editions of the Spanish Championship Sub'23 ...
Now, both have decided to go further. In the face of the next campaign, Alba and Martita have joined their paths and will form a partner in the World Paddle Tour Circuit, in which they hope to give much to talk about, improve positions in the Ranking and, of course, qualify for the Masters Finals .
Dupla in which youth, claw, desire and talent come together, we will have to follow closely their evolution.
How and when did the possibility arise that you unieses your way to Alba Galán?
There had always been such a possibility and, as you all know, this has not been a good year in terms of the results of the World Paddle Tour Circuit for both, so we thought it was the right moment.
Of all the players on the Circuit, what made you bet on Alba to start this new sports project?
Alba and I have known each other forever. We both come from the Circuit for Minors and we have already formed a couple. We can train together, because we are both from Madrid. She is a tough player, with a lot of strength, her height is an important plus on the court and we laugh a lot together. I think how well we get along and how much we understand each other on the track has been what has made me bet on it.
As you say, you already know each other on the track ... What can the fans of your union expect?
A lot of desire to do well, delivery, freshness in the game ... We are a young couple, very aggressive and with great ambition. We will fight in all the matches and we will try that those who come to see us get a good impression.
Have you already talked about challenges and objectives for 2016?
We have not talked yet but the idea are the maximum objectives, of course. Climb in the Ranking, be among the 6 best couples, enter the 2016 Masters ... But for that we have to start working and train together now, and we'll see how we work together in the WPT tracks.
What can Alba bring to your game? And you to yours?
Alba will bring aggressiveness, power, strength while I will bring order, definition, serenity.
For many, you are like day and night ... How would you define your new partner?
As I said before, we have a fantastic relationship. Alba is very funny, funky and very sincere. On the track you feel your support in each and every one of your punches, whether you win them or fail them. She is a good player and a better partner.
You have just started the Medicine career ... How will you reconcile the studies with the trainings?
Perfectly. With effort, organization and little sleep. I have chosen the first class shift in the Faculty, which starts at 08: 30, because I have time to study and train ... As you can see, I have everything organized, hahahaha
This year you will play with a shovel 'made to your size' ... What could you tell us about your new weapon?
I have to say that it is not the first shovel that I do in Adidas. I already collaborated in the elaboration of the previous one. As for this, I will tell you that it is more powerful than the other, with a more aggressive sound and aesthetically it is a pass.
After renewing recently your commitment to Adidas ... What do you suppose that such an important firm continues to bet on you?
It supposes a great joy but, at the same time, a tremendous responsibility. Adidas is a brand with worldwide impact and I have to be up to the task.
Worker, perfectionist and very self-critical, what would you say are your greatest virtue and that defect that you would like to polish as a player?
I think that work, wanting everything to go as well as possible and knowing how to recognize what you do wrong and trying to correct it are aspects that are part of my way of being ... I do not know if they can be described as virtues. Defect, I believe that my demand in everything, studies, friends, play; Maybe I have to learn to be less demanding.
Do you have any mania that can be counted before the games?
No, the truth is that I do not have hobbies. What I like is to follow some routines that help me concentrate before entering the track.
Sure you keep many but, what anecdote you keep with more affection of all that you have lived thanks to paddle?
I do not know if they are anecdotes, but yes they are moments that I keep in my memory: the tearful eyes of my mother when hugging me in the final of the World Championship in Palma de Mallorca, the support and the applause of the public in the final of the 2014 Masters when I injured myself , the face of concern of my father in that same final ... I do not know, there are many moments that I keep with special affection and the last one has been the happy thing that made me that my colleagues in the Youth Selection thought of me as a standard-bearer in my last World.
What dreams, what goals would you like to fulfill in the world of paddle tennis?
I always say that I want to become the 1 number. Now that my junior season is over, I dream of winning a World Paddle Tour event, climbing to the top of the drawer in an Absolute World Championship or being an Absolute Spain Champion ... But for now I have to have my feet on the ground , stop dreaming and work, work hard.
What message would you like to convey to the readers of Padel World Press?
Even at the risk of appearing repetitive, because I always ask the same, to support the female padel in all its categories. With the support of all the fans, the girls will get on the same rung as the men's paddle.
