"Hello everyone:
At the time of starting this article, I will tell you that I had barely arrived in Lugo to start preparing the tournament when I heard about the death of Alejandra's father. After talking with his family, he told me that he not only wanted to play this test, but also that we were going to win ... The truth is that I was amazed !!
When we met on Wednesday night, and as it is obvious, she was very weak and she looked very tired. On Thursday morning he told me that he preferred to save his strength for the game in the afternoon, so he would not come to train.
The match against Nela - Aranzazu started very badly and we conceded a 2-5 run. I was off-center and more concerned about Ale than what I had to do. It was very strange because I saw that it was I who was receiving Ale's support when it would have to be the other way around… During our time on the bench, Juan Alday told me to think more of myself, that my partner was fine and to trust. I did it and we came back: 7-5 and 6-0.
In the quarterfinals, against Carolina Navarro-Ceci Reiter we completed a very serious match, in which we were very focused on what we had to do. The objective was not to wear out and leave the track as soon as possible so that Ale did not have to spend a lot of energy. Despite their defeat, Carol and Ceci are playing very well and can be seen on the court.
In semis, in front of Cata Tenorio and Bea González We left very serious. We had seen the great performance they completed against Gemma Triay and Lucia Sainz, so we knew they were in top form. I am surprised at the courage that Bea has. He wants the ball at all times, he goes for the point without stopping and he does not give a ball for lost ... I like his body expression on the court! I think this girl will go very far. Cata is a great partner and it shows that Bea is learning a lot from her.
Solid, with very few forced errors and with a very clear tactical approach, we achieved the triumph and, without waiting ... Once again we were going to play a final!
The truth is that when we are in critical moments, as was the pneumothorax that Alejandra had before WPT Las Rozas, we have grown. In fact, we won the tournament there as well.
On the right path
As I told you in the previous article, in Andorra we were very close to the title and the sensations on the track, despite losing, were very good ... We were recovering our essence !!
Our rivals in the fight for the title, the Twins, completed a match of 10 in the semis against Marta Ortega - Ari Sánchez. We knew it was going to be a very tough commitment, as crashes against them always are.
From the first games we felt very comfortable. The reality was that everything worked out for us. We play loose and very brave. When we get the type of game that we like to do, everything flows and we enjoy on the court ...
To beat number 1s like Mapi and Majo Sánchez Alayeto you have to play well because their level, and their regularity, is very high… You have to trust that you can beat them… And we did that !!
Every week that passes, Alejandra is getting more confidence in her physique and in her game, something that is being noticed in the team.
For her, imagine what she must suppose to be able to dedicate this triumph to her father ... And that is that her father was her greatest follower. I am very proud and very happy because I know what this title meant to her.
Once again, Alejandra has shown that she has great strength, great talent and that she loves this sport. His passion for paddle transmits it on the court.
