Padel World Press .- Last Monday, 12, in March, the presentation of the new season of the World Padel Tour Circuit at the Goya Theater in Madrid. It was an event in which the main novelties presented by the most important competition in the world paddle for 2018 were detailed. Among them, the Definitive Tournament Calendar, which will have cities that will 'debut' in WPT.
However, at the inauguration meeting of the new 'padelero course' not only the venues of this season were confirmed, but we were also able to see some new locations for 2019, as was the case with Logroño.
At the end of the Gala, Javier Merino, Councilor for Mayor, Sports and Youth and President of Logroño Sport, He made it official that the Rioja capital will host the World Padel Tour Circuit during the next campaign and was enthusiastic to host a sporting event of such proportions: «This great news is the result of a pre-agreement between Logroño Sport and the top leaders of World Padel Tour, in such a way that we will be the venue of one of the tournaments that make up this Professional Circuit, the best in the world according to the professionals themselves ".
As they pointed out in Logroño 24 Hours Javier Merino added: "Logroño is a city of tradition and fondness, which had already hosted the previous Padel Pro Tour Circuit from 2008 to 2011. In this way, the best padel will once again set foot in a city that has a large number of practitioners and will welcome you with great expectation. The city will enjoy all the attractions of the WPT, providing both the warmth of a public increasingly numerous and understood as the quality of our municipal sports services. We are a locality that lives by and for sport and has always been up to the task of hosting this type of event, such as the Tour of Spain, matches of official selections or the Davis Cup of Tennis.
It is no secret that padel is one of the disciplines that is growing the most at the level of amateur and amateur players and that situation is also tangible in Logroño, where the followers every time they are more familiar with the stars of this wonderful sport (especially with Eli Amatriain, his 'Pródiga Daughter'), so that having the opportunity to receive them again is 'a gift' for the city. In this sense, Javier Merino stressed that the Clinic held in the city during the last years, which had the collaboration of the City Council and Logroño Sport, gave fans the opportunity to learn from some of the best players in the world, such as Sanyo Gutiérrez, Maxi Sánchez, Paquito Navarro or Juan Martín Díaz.
To finish, the Sports Councilor wanted to highlight the current Sports Program of Logroño Sport, which acts in response to the potential of padel as a new mass discipline: "We include different Introductory and Advanced Courses, weekdays and weekends. There is a total of 115 seats offered for 25 groups and, currently, occupancy borders 100%. "
