Our partner Daniel Gamarra has spoken with the mother of Juani Mieres, who told us about his son's childhood, how his beginnings were in the Minors' paddle in Bahía Blanca or how is the current relationship with his partner, Miguel Lamperti.

Padel World Press .- Do not miss this interview, in which we can learn about the most maternal side of paddle tennis, the vision of a mother who tells us the story of her own son.

How was Juani as a child? What did he like to do?

Juani as a child was very independent, he was very sure of himself ... He always made his own decisions and always willingly accepted the consequences of his actions. He was doing well in school even though he never studied. He only read the notes a little before coming to class and he already passed, the opposite of his brother. Juani was passionate about fishing and would go every summer to El Bolsón, in southern Argentina, to fish with his relatives.

How was your childhood?

This he would have to say but I think he was very happy. I always saw him encouraged with his family and his friends. I think he had a happy childhood.

How was your day to day?

Juani went to Claret School, where I work, since I was a Early Childhood Education teacher. Juani would leave school and go to play soccer or watch cartoons with his friends. Paddle tennis arrived on weekends. It must be borne in mind that at that time there was no paddle training, since it was very expensive and, for that reason, several families from Bahía Blanca created a Paddle Association so that the children of the city could train and travel to the Championships Provincial with the lowest possible cost for their families. The Association worked very hard so that the families of Bahía Blanca would cost as little as possible the paddle of their children ... We got the rent of the courts for free from the paddle clubs of Bahía Blanca and, in addition, we created a raffle system with the that they were trying to pay for the children's trips to the Provincials because, on many occasions, these were disputed very far from our city.

How does it feel to have a child who has reached the highest level in professional sports?

To be honest, I don't feel anything special. It is clear that I like when he wins since you have to keep in mind that it is his job. He lives off that and therefore I want him to do well. But I prefer that they say that my son is a good person, that he has good values… I prefer that they tell me that than that they tell me that he is a champion or that he has won such a tournament. I think that for a mother the first thing I have told you is more important.

Do you see all your matches? Do you suffer seeing them or become accustomed with time?

When I was little I did watch all their games but not now because I get very nervous. I could never see Juani against Miguel. Once they were playing against and I said "Come on Juani" ... At the end of the game, Lamperti told me that he felt bad in the match because he had listened to me and I had always said "Let's go Miguelito".

Both Diego and Juani are dedicated to paddle. Did you think that your two children would be dedicated to the sport during all their life?

I think so because when I was little I realized that they were passionate about this sport. You can not get an idea of all the time you could spend inside a track; they loved it It is also true that both my husband and I are very supportive of the sport and we support them a lot in travel and training. I think that also influenced.

How do you see the couple Juani-Miguel this year?

I love it because I see them enjoy. I see them as very competitive and I feel that they are happy playing together.

What is the secret so that both get along so well both on and off the track?

I think the secret is that both have had a hard time getting where they are. They have lived many things together as children, they are like brothers and they know each other very well. They both already have an age and I think they want to achieve something together, reach a goal.

Could you tell us an anecdote about them when they were young?

Yes, hahaha… Once we went to the Provincial of Mar de Plata and I was responsible for the Association group in the tournament. At the end of the matches that day, I took all the boys to a Shopping Center near the club where they played so that they could spend the day. After a while the Manager of the same approached me to tell me that the boys from the Association had stolen and that they were all in their living room. When I entered, I saw that they were all in a row looking down and when I went to talk to them Juani took out of his cap 2 pencils and a mechanical pencil and Miguel took out of his pockets several candies and razors, hahahaha. Keep in mind that at that time they would be 8 or 9 years old ... I wanted to die. I apologized to the Manager and took them to the hotel directly. I was very angry with them.

What does Juani Mieres' mother do during the year? Are you also tied to the shovel?

Until two years ago I was a Early Childhood Education teacher. I have always been passionate about children. In addition, I also play paddle tennis and organize matches and tournaments here at Sanset. I have always loved sports. It is something that has been linked to my life and that will never change ... I have always attached great importance to it, throughout my life.

I would like to send a greeting to all my friends from Bahia who support Juani and Miguel day after day ... I send them a very strong hug.
