Very happy for the compromise reached, Anselmo Pestana said: "Today is a day of maximum satisfaction because, for the first time, La Palma is incorporated into the great venues of the World Tour of a sport as in vogue and with as much passion as the padel . Despite being a small island, today the number of annual paddle tournaments exceeds thirty with an average of almost 100 pairs, which is a real success in just a few years since the paddle began to be practiced on the Island in 1999. In addition, there are four schools of this sport at full capacity on La Palma, and it can be said that the approximate number of practitioners today exceeds the 2.500, which guarantees a large influx of fans to the event to be held on the island "
For his part, Mariano Hernández, Sports Counselor, stressed the boom and great enthusiasm for this sport and said: "Paddle continues to grow every day and, proof of this, are the projected short-term tracks, which they will constitute the birth of four new clubs. Among them, 16 will add more new tracks, which means almost doubling the number of current courts in the insular geography. Given the experience we have from the Sports Area of the Cabildo, we are convinced that this appointment that we present today is already marked in red in the calendar of the palmeros, who are great sports fans and never miss the opportunity to be in an event of maximum importance as this test will be. "
As we have been able to know, the Estrella Damm Isla de La Palma Open will be the third tournament of the new season of the Padel World Tour Circuit, whose calendar will be presented officially next March 9.
