Padel World Press .- From last day 04, until March 26, the Alicante town of Pilar de la Horadada will enjoy the seventh edition of a tournament that, although it began as an emotional 'tribute' to a true passionate about this sport, has already become one of the most prestigious 'amateur' competitions on the national calendar.

With Tables of 1ª, 2ª, 3ª and 4ª Categories of Men, 2ª, 3ª, 4ª and 5ª Categories of Women, Amateurs, Sub'10, Sub'12, Sub'14 and More of 90, every time they are more fans of all corners of Spain that want to be present in something more than a simple tournament.

Among his illustrious winners it should be noted that, without going any further, last year were Martin Di Nenno-Franco Stupaczuk who won the title in Category Queen after beating Peter Alonso-Matías Nicoletti in an exciting final by 6-3 , 3-6 and 6-3.

This year, there will be many stars of the Professional Circuit who will meet 22 at 26 in March, to try to get the victory. Among them there will be Juan Carlos Ferrero and Borja Francés, who have received a Wild Card from the organization.

Who was José Martínez?

A great lover of the paddle world, José Antonio Martínez Meroño only had 38 years old when he died on 28 day in July of 2009 after suffering a serious illness. Passionate about this sport, he did everything possible to meet some of his idols: Juani Mieres.

Ambitious, restless, active ... The idea of ​​getting his city, Pilar de la Horadada, became the seat of one of the Padel Professional Circuit tournaments was always around his head.

Therefore, after his death, his best friends decided that the best way to pay homage was organizing the José Martínez Memorial, an international championship that season after season does not stop growing in number of participants and categories.
