The career of the great former Valencian tennis player in his first test of the World Paddle Tour Circuit came to an end. After overcoming two tough matches with Borja Francés, they were defeated by Sergio Alba-Javier de Paiz in the Pre-Preview final (6-2 and 6-1).

To begin with, we should highlight the injury to Lucas Campagnolo, who had to withdraw from his game when only the first two games had been played. In turn, the intense rain that fell on the Alicante coast meant that the schedule had to be changed and, with this, the commitments ended after midnight. In this sense, those in charge of closing the day were Iñigo Zaratiegui-Mario González, who will be in the Preliminary after defeating Javier Martínez-Jorge Barriuso 4-6, 6-3 and 7-6.
Once again, and despite the bad weather, the fans of La Nucía once again demonstrated their passion for padel and almost completely filled the Club PadelPoint facilities to, among other things, see Juan Carlos Ferrero in action. The former ATP number 1 showed very good form but did not achieve his goal and was left out of the Preview after falling in the decisive match against Alba-De Paiz.
Those who did achieve an agonizing classification were Willy Castañón-Ángel Izquierdo, who came back from a set down and saved a match point to defeat the young and promising José Carlos Gaspar-Momo González from Malaga 1-6, 7-5 and 6 -4. Álvaro García-Víctor Sánchez also needed three sets to leave Jorge Tupayachi-Roberto Rodríguez (6-2, 3-6 and 6-3) on the road, as well as Sergio Icardo-Christian, who won 6-3, 3 -6 and 6-3 to Jorge Ruiz-Luis Saiz.
As expected, the public was able to see exciting and very even duels, such as the one that led to the victory of Aris Patiniotis-Toni Bueno over Miguel Ángel Solbes-Ricardo Martínez (7-5 and 7-6). For their part, David García Campos-Rafa Méndez beat José Rico-Antonio Cardona 7-6 and 6-3.
Finally, David Leal-Víctor Ruiz will not miss the first round of the Qualifying, which they will arrive well rested... And it is that they benefited from the abandonment due to Lucas Campagnolo's injury when the score was 1-1 in the first set.
On Tuesday, August 18 and starting at 09:30 am, the eight matches will be played, the first eight matches of the day so that, in the afternoon, the names of the four pairs that will enter the Main Draw will be known.
