They have been one of the revelations of one of the most anticipated tests of these first months of the year. The promising player of Middle Moon tells Padel World Press how he has lived with Guga Vázquez his time at the José Martínez Memorial.

Padel World Press .- With a firm step, with a spectacular padel, Jaime Bergareche and his partner stood in the grand finale of an appointment that, season after season, does not stop growing in prestige and importance. Do not miss the story of the Bilbao, who faces 2014 with morals through the clouds:

"Hello everyone:

First of all I have to admit that this was a tournament that we had marked on the calendar. First, because it was the first date of the season that we were going to play together with Guga and me (to date, he had only played the Spanish Championship for Teams with Padelmania, while in my case, he had participated in that same competition with Arena Entrena Pádel and a tournament of the Vizcaya Federation). Second, because this test is really spectacular. I met her last year and, although I lost in the round of eighths, I left with a very good impression.

I must say that this edition has been incredible. Seeing all the assembly that they did for the final was impressive. I have to congratulate the people who are working with such enthusiasm to make the José Martínez Memorial a true tournament. Carlos and the rest of the organizers, volunteers, children, sponsors, the public ... A whole town turns to this event that in my opinion, and leaving aside the World Paddle Tour Circuit, is the best of all those made in Spain . It's really nice and you want to go play ...

The same thing that I have just commented is something that has been reflected in all the couples that have registered ... It is not that 1 or 2 have been good pairs. Is that removing the first 10 ranking have gone almost all others. There was a very high level.

In the first round we had to play on the Central Court of the Duques de Palma de Pilar de la Horadada Pavilion. We faced a couple of former tennis players, Brooks-Fuster. I already knew the first one from having seen him in action last year, but not Fuster. I had been warned that it was going to be tough and it was. I think we played very well, we made very few mistakes and we didn't give them any options. On a technical level, we find a track with new and high grass. That, added to a Babolat ball somewhat slower than the Head WPT we are used to, meant that it could not be hit from either side. We adapted very quickly to this aspect and we knew how to raise the parties around this.

In eighth we mediated the seeds 2 number: Chiqui Cepero and Raúl Díaz. By all well known, it was expected a very close match and so it was. We went out to the top, with a clear strategy and that we tried to maintain throughout the match. It may have been our best performance of the entire tournament. I do not know how many unforced errors we had but I'm sure very few ... At least, I remember few. We ended up winning by 6-1 and 6-2.

On Friday afternoon, already in the quarterfinals and with the Central Court full of public, we saw the faces with some rivals of our same ranking: Diestro-Restivo. They also came with morale by the clouds after having exceeded Bardasco-Rubio in the previous round. We started playing perfectly and we got an advantage of 6-3 and 3-1. At that time, we relaxed a bit and they raised the level. We made the mistake of letting them enter the game and they knew how to take advantage of it, recovering the break against. We tightened a bit, we managed to break your service again but we did not close it. With Guga's serve, we had 1 match ball that we let out and that ended up losing the second set by 5-7. We went through our worst moments of the tournament and we came to see us with a disadvantage of 2-5 on the scoreboard of the third set. The paddle is a matter of sensations. We recovered ours, we changed our mood and my partner achieved one of the best points I've ever seen ... It was spectacular but very difficult to explain in a few lines. We forced the tie break and we won that sudden death by 7-3, being superior in the final straight. I think it's fair to say that Diestro-Restivo are going to be a very competitive couple, which will end up quite this season.

Very tired, we left the track to the 22: 00 hours and we knew that on Saturday morning we would wait in semis Peter and Mati Nicoleti, who came to eliminate Chico Gomes and David Gutierrez in the quarters. They started as clear favorites but we knew how to find the perfect tactic and we clung to it, without leaving the script. There were critical moments, like an 0-40 at the beginning of the second set that could have changed the outcome ... The most positive thing is that we knew how to be strong in the decisive moments and that helped us achieve the triumph by 6-4 and 6-2 ... We were in the final !! Although very tired by the effort of 4 very hard matches.

We recovered well, at least, the best possible to face the definitive duel against the great favorites: Willy Lahoz and Godo Díaz. I couldn't imagine that there would be so many people… Nor the show that was put on with speakers, dances… It was incredible. They told us that there were more than 2000 people. Speechless!!

On the court, Willy and Godo showed why they were the seeds number 1. At the beginning we held out well, with points and very long games until at 3-2 they broke our serve in an endless game. From that moment, they released and deployed a very high-level paddle. For our part, we could not find a correct tactic, as we had done in all previous matches. The result was 6-2 double and I must say that Willy and Godo are going to give more than one surprise throughout this season.

Finally, I want to congratulate my partner Guga for the torneozo he has done. Many people came to tell me how good my partner was and that means you can see that I chose well, hehehe.

Also thank Padel World Press for this story, to all the people of Pilar de la Horadada for the love I have received, to the organization of the José Martínez Memorial for how they treat me and, of course, to my sponsors. Without them it would be impossible to play Middle Moon, Wilson Padel, Tecdoa, Ingsa, NorteHispana, Bobruc Oil and www.lasfloresdetadea.com

A hug to all and see you on the tracks

Jaime Bergareche Zuloaga. "
