What are the most common mistakes in the return of service?

Faults can come from technical, tactical or physical errors.

Incorrect technique, bad decision of the type of execution and lack of reaction are some of the causes of most errors.

Some common mistakes can be the following:

  • Little mental preparation, prior to receiving the service.
  • Low activation of the legs prior to the execution of the serve.
  • Low or excessive muscle tone during the return.
  • Late reading of the opponent's serve.
  • Too erect body posture.
  • Hit with the feet changed, facing or too crossed.
  • Bad grip (very closed or open).
  • Wide preparation of the blow in the fast serves.
  • Scarce termination of the blow and consequently little accompaniment of the ball towards the intended target.
  • Hitting losing the balance of the body.
  • Hit very close, far or above the ball.
  • Do not go out and look for the ball in weak and angled shipments.
  • Preparation and late placement of the body when removed with a side wall.
  • Hit with the angle of the face very open, closed or angled.
  • Dodge the right or reverse to return with the other blow (for being weaker).
  • Not knowing how to absorb the speed of the serve of the opponent in the strong serves.
