During the last few weeks we have seen how, from one day to the next, Estrella Damm left the world of paddle definitively to hear that WPT and AJPP were 'condemned' ... She also made sure that there were up to three different proposals of possible circuits or that the name of World Padel Tour was already history.
Padel World Press .- That padel is a sport with tremendous potential, that there is no one to discuss it ... That it continues and will continue to grow in an unstoppable way, either. All this brings with it its inevitable good things and bad things. Among the last, one of the most significant is the beginning of a battle of the media of other disciplines with more tradition: the race to want to arrive first and, with the excuse of giving an EXCLUSIVE or a PRIMICIA, publish information without contrasting to 100%.
What is happening with the future of the Professional Circuit, one of the first major 'bombs' in the recent history of paddle tennis, should make us all reflect ... From organizers, sponsors, players ... to the media. And maybe to us more than anyone.
It is possible that many times we are not aware of the power we can have. Maybe in other cases, we do know but we are not able to control it. No one is free to make mistakes and, no matter how much or little our experience, we all make mistakes and we will make mistakes ... In El Pelotazo, the first ones.
What has happened in recent weeks has made us think ... And also ratify our line of action. Everyone can do what they want in 'their house' but nobody forget that the acts have their consequences ... Tanning in the world of football, tricky where they are, what happened in these days has reminded me of those years in which I was dedicated to the 'king sport' in our country. With the excuse of wanting to be the first we have witnessed false news, disqualifications between 'colleagues' by profession, half-truths, outlandish hypotheses ...
Is everything OK in this game? What do we want to make of our profession? In any circle sooner or later we always hear the phrase "I want the best for this sport" but, with performances like those of now, we see that it is not like that ... The times, the deadlines, the moments have not been respected ... Many times it has been fallen into the trap of certain interested and erroneous leaks. Does not matter. Once the stone is thrown, it's time to hide the hand ... "It's just that they told me ...", "it will not happen again" ... I hope it's true.
The credibility, honesty and true strength of a means of communication do not happen to be giving scoops all the time. There are many other values (such as seriousness, ethics and patience) that are what contribute to generating that trust that allows them to come to you to tell you the news before anyone else ... Even if that means you have to bite the tongue a time and save you information that would be 'a Pelotazo' !!
With direct contact with many of the actors involved in this matter, from the first day we have known the details that have been happening in this process ... The unexpected appearance of a notary, meetings, decision making, face to face, the meetings arranged and canceled a few hours before, ...
What would it have been worth doing public? You're welcome. There are things that should stay at home until they are resolved completely. Otherwise, they will only serve to hurt the image of a sport we claim to defend. What will potential sponsors think when they see all the things that have been published? What will those companies that want to invest in the paddle think when they read what we seem intent on turning into a powder keg? If you have a real knowledge of everything that has happened and, above all, if you analyze it with perspective and coolness, you will see that this story happens every day in any professional and personal environment ... There are relationships that end, in which Different paths are taken and a better future is sought. But, of course, when told that way, it seems to have less pull.
A message to the fans ... Quiet, there will be Male and Female Circuit. Quiet, there is a calendar but it will not be published until all the fringes are not closed ... We do not insist on giving dates that are not real because, if then the announced things do not happen for a specific day, we only manage to increase the doubts ... Quiet!!
Time passes, people come and go, media are born and disappear, players have their way through the Circuit and retire, ... In the end, the only thing that always remains and will surpass us all is the PÁDEL.
