Against all odds, the current 4 number of the Padel World Ranking they were outscored in the first round of the Estrella Damm Catalunya Master by Ramiro Moyano-Lucho Capra (6-3 and 6-4) and, after that setback, both Cristian Gutiérrez and Franco Stupaczuk plotted to offer their best version in the second round of the current season.

With a firm step, the pupils of Carlos Pozzoni were able to go forward through a very tough frame, which led them to have to surrender to the maximum from the first minute. In the eighth they had to overcome a set against to leave on the way Agustín Gómez Silingo-Gerard Company (4-6, 6-3 and 6-1) while, in the quarter, they were able to eliminate the runners-up in Catalan lands : Juan Lebrón-Juan Cruz Belluati (7-6 and 6-3).

In the fight for the title, after a spectacular first set, the injury of Cristian Gutiérrez forced them to leave when they lost by 7-6 and 3-0 against Fernando Belasteguín-Pablo Lima.

"Subchampions of the Estrella Damm Alicante Open. It was a shame not to have been able to finish the final due to an injury to Cristian that, hopefully, is nothing serious.

Beyond that, I think we have returned to a great level as a couple and as a team and, for me, that is the important thing.
