"Our young sport has very few years of history if we compare it with the other sports we dream of reaching." Do not miss this interesting post from Javier Casadesús, Technical Advisor of the Spanish Federation of Paddle.

Padel World Press .- I have always thought that we are playing our future in a few years and that only if all the actors in charge of internationalization work in a coordinated manner do we have any option to achieve it.

But in addition to that work in pursuit of a common goal, parking useless selfishness, I think it is also necessary to think about how to evolve our sport.

The rules that define the game of the paddle are basically the same as those with which it was created. It is true that at the beginning of the 90 the Argentine and Spanish rules were unified, the crystal tracks appeared as well as the rubber shovels. However, I think that the padel has not dared to make a real analysis that allows you to adapt its rules to make it more competitive in the sports market.

Or at least try. For example: the size of the track is the original, the one that was defined when the paddle was in diapers. Should not we, as a minimum, rethink the measurements of the track? Why not try if at least in the professional padel, where the physical and technical level of players has risen so much, a wider and longer track would offer us a greater spectacle? Perhaps television broadcasts would reach a new dimension (I'm sure that would be like that with a bigger playing field).

But there is more

Even tennis, our 'father sport', is rethinking the score. They, with many more years of experience, have realized that the public loses attention at the beginning of the sets. Solution: they are testing sets to 4 games. We, in theory less anchored in heavy traditions, we should head those modifications that, without doubt, would also result in greater interest on the part of the viewer.

Surely there are many more options… And surely any change must be well studied and agreed upon and, if implemented, it should be done with all possible prevention and testing measures.

It is true that I can be argued that with these rules we are not doing so badly but, of course, I am convinced that the original rules are improvable. Almost nothing in this life reaches its maturity at the first attempt.
