On the morning of Tuesday 29 of March, in the Central Court of the Municipal Palace of Sports Adolfo Suárez, took place the Official presentation of the first tournament of the 2016 season World Paddle Tour Tour.
Padel World Press .- In the act were present Javier Porras, General Director of World Pádel Tour; Jesús Martínez, Councilor for Sports of Gijón; Pablo Velasco, President of the Federation of the Principality of Asturias de Pádel; as well as the players Juani Mieres and Miguel Lamperti.
During his speech, Javier Porras said: "Asturias deserved a World Padel Tour tournament and is now a reality. This year the competition is more open than ever and in Gijón the fans are turning to the test. We are convinced that the tournament will be a success. "
Just below, Jesús Martínez spoke about the importance of having brought the best circuit in the world of paddle tennis to the Principality: «We want all Asturians to start more and more in physical activity. Bringing the best paddle players is sure to continue promoting the practice of this sport, which is increasingly popular. »
For his part, Pablo Velasco, President of the Asturian Federation, highlighted the great closeness of professional players with followers: «The fact that they approach the amateurs and allow them to meet them and exchange a few words with them creates hobby and is thanking ».
About to debut as partners in this event, Juani Mieres and Miguel Lamperti talked about what they expect from this first test of the season. In that sense, Lamperti said: «We are very excited about our new project. We have trained hard and we want to make war even though I recognize that I am a little nervous for the debut and to see how we are going to give this tournament.
Juani Mieres influenced the fact that this campaign promises to be one of the most exciting in the history of this wonderful sport: «I think that for the spectator it is more attractive than ever although, for us, it will be the toughest we are going To live and suffer. We must not only fear the new couples from the top of the Ranking ... There are many new young couples who come with a lot of hunger and if we do not go on every game, they can send us home ».
As a final touch to this event, Eloy Olalla and Claudio Silva, former players of Sporting de Gijón, played a mini match with Mieres-Lima, so they were responsible for stepping for the first time the grass of a Central Court that is prepared to start living strong emotions.
