The Spanish paddle has already the name of its new winners by 1ª Category Teams. In a day of infarction, the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona and the Real Zaragoza Tennis Club won the Men's and Women's categories.
Padel World Press .- Brilliant point and end to a competition that, since the past 14 of March, filled with great matches the facilities of Arena Entrena Pádel de Beriain (Pamplona). Many of the best players in the world came together in a competition that, year after year, is gaining importance and prestige.
In the current edition, emotion and equality were the dominant notes in almost all the eliminatory. In the Men's Draw, and after completing a spectacular tournament, the representatives of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona and the Padelmania Team met in the clash of fight for the title.
A vibrant duel was expected. It was expected that the forces were very balanced but nobody could wait for the tension that was experienced from the beginning to the end. With 2-2 on the scoreboard, and everything to be decided, the fifth and final game came to an exciting outcome in the tie break of the third set ... Although the Padelmanía Team players came to have two match points in their favor, Juani Mieres and Gerard Company turned the situation around, overcame Javi Limones-Cutu Pérez Millán in the decisive sleeve and tipped the balance towards the side of a squad that faced this challenge with the last-minute loss of Juan Martín Díaz.
The results of the meetings were:
- Central Court: Juan Lebrón-Guga Vázquez fell to Eduard Bainad-Jany Gisbert by 6-7 and 2-6.
- Track 6: Roberto Saba-Alejandro Ruiz were surpassed by Fernando Belasteguín-Willy Lahoz by 2-6 and 3-6.
- Track 3: Pablo Lima-Ramiro Moyano beat Benzal-Soldevilla by 6-1 and 6-2.
- Track 4: Chiqui Cepero-Paquito Navarro defeated Malet-Piera by 6-1 and 6-0.
- Track 2: Javi Limones-Pérez Millán yielded to Gerard Company-Juani Mieres for 7-6, 1-6 and 7-6.
In the case of the girls, the resolution was no less exciting. Two of the big favorites, Real Zaragoza Tenis Club and Padel Riba-Roja Club, crossed their paths in the final ... The alternatives were constant, the victory could correspond to any team but, thanks to their greater success at key moments, the players of the Aragonese set prevailed by a tight 3-2 scoreboard.
The results were:
- Track 4: Paula Eyheraguibel-Mapi Sánchez defeated Figueres-Triay by 6-0 and 6-2.
- Track 5: Gracia-Arceiz fell to Márquez-Paz for 6-4, 0-6 and 1-6.
- Track 2: Eli Amatriain-Patty Llaguno beat Madurga-Alonso by 6-0 and 6-3.
- Central Court: Grau-Olano were imposed on Jareño-Medina by 6-4 and 6-3.
- Track 7: Majo Sánchez-Caro left before Chicharro-Gómez with 6-3 and 2-2.
The other side of this competition, the one of sadness for having descended to 2ª Category, corresponded to the Club Sato Sport and Real Sociedad de Tenis de Granada in the Men's Draw, and to Padel Derio Club and Paddle Club Astillero-Guarnizo in the Femenino.
The season has not been able to start better! Apparently during these days, we wait a few months in which the big stars of this sport are going to make us enjoy a lot.
