On June 1 Sunday, the International Paddle Show lived its last day. After three intense days, with many moments to remember and that we will never forget, all those who had the fortune to enjoy this event from within returned to our homes with the joy of having been part of this important event but with the pain of that the curtain had already been lowered ... We will have to repeat in 2015 !!
Padel World Press .- It was Friday, December 20 day of 2013, when Ifema was competing in the Final Masters of World Paddle Tour ... While talking with some friends, Vane Zamora approached me and said in a low voice: "We have to talk calmly in these days because I still have great news to give you ". The world of paddle, for the good and for the bad, is very small. I had already heard some rumors so I replied: "If I know what you want to tell me ... You are going to start up a Padel Fair". He changed his face ... I do not know if surprise or anger: "But how do you know that? Who told you that?".
That same day, and although it was only a few minutes, I met Juan de Parra and Javier Mangas, the two crazy Extremaduran people who had thrown themselves into the pool and who had dared to go forward with a project that many had talked about but that nobody had dared to make reality ... Sometimes, relationships can be more or less fluid by a matter of personal feeling. In this case, I had it clear from the beginning: I was going to help them in everything they asked me to do.
From January to May, my breakfasts, my meetings and my moments of talks with the members of the team that have ended up realizing the dream of the Hall of Paddle were constant. I did not have any kind of professional relationship with them but, on a personal level, my commitment was maximum ... How can you deny your support and affection to some friends?
It has not been easy, it has not been an easy way to go ... But they have done it with all their good intentions and with the sole purpose of helping the paddle. That they have made mistakes, yes. That they are aware and that they have the humility to recognize them, too. That they are already working for the edition of 2015, that nobody has any doubt.
A day of hugs and farewells
After all that has been told in this diary, from the experiences held on both Friday and Saturday, it should be noted that Sunday was a much more familiar day. The children became the main protagonists, with a Clinic-Exhibition that had as protagonists the boys of Aspado, a class of Ramiro Choya with children or a training session for the little ones with Adrián Caviglia as director.
As they were approaching the 12: 00 hours, the atmosphere was warming ... What will happen ?, we all asked. Very simple: I was about to start a Pro-Am in which the famous Gemeliers, the twins who conquered all of Spain during their visit to the La Voz Kids program ... Hundreds of young amateurs crowded along the track to see them in action and then they went around the stage to hear them sing. In Padel World Press we witnessed the exception of his 'signing' for Varlion, the brand that dressed them for their event on the court.
A relaxed talk with a 'master' like Nito Brea, who surprised me by giving me a dedicated book, a good while of our usual confidences with Daniel Patti, President of the International Federation, or a fun chat with my good friend Jordi Muñoz. step to the time to end a day of work that had begun at the 09: 00 hours, with one of the traditional breakfasts in the company of Adrián Caviglia.
With many meetings pending, with many hugs and handshakes, we headed to the stand that we have shared with the partners of TopPádel. It was time to say goodbye, to collect our things, to end this wonderful experience ... Not without first laughing a good time and photographing ourselves with Carolina Navarro, Ceci Reiter, David Velarde (DavelPádel) and Iván Fernández (Waita TV) !!
I think I should point out ... It was not a goodbye; It was a see you later. It was not an end point; it was a point and followed ... Because we have no doubt that at 2015 we will see each other again and enjoy an event that will once again make Madrid the World Capital of Paddle.
Congratulations to all, brands, organizers, assistants, etc., for having put their two cents in this 1st Edition of the International Paddle Show ... Things like that will help grow this wonderful sport!
