Padel World Press .- In this second chapter of the series 'How to choose a paddle paddle' we will know the different types of rubber that exist in the market and which best suits your tastes and your type of game.

At this point you should be clear about the shape of the shovel you need, since it was the lesson we learned last month. Anyway, if you still have not been clear, we invite you to take another look at that article before moving on to choose the type of rubber.

When you need to change the 'weapon' and you start looking for information on the internet, it is very possible that you realize that most of the blades have EVA rubber inside but, in reality, it is not the only type that exists.

There are also models with FOAM rubber although the number of blades that use it is much lower than those that have EVA inside.

We will know the characteristics and benefits of each type of rubber:

EVA rubber

The main characteristic of the EVA Rubber, and one of the great differences with the FOAM, is that it is a type of rubber with enough rigidity. That means that it has a drier and harder touch and, for that reason, it is very normal to see the same model of blade with different types of rubber to be able to choose (such as, for example, EVA Rubber and EVA Soft Rubber).

This greater rigidity means that the EVA rubber blades have, in general, more power than the FOAM models since they do not absorb as much the blow. However, this greater rigidity will also make the EVA rubber paddles not as comfortable to use, especially at beginner levels, such as FOAM because they offer less ball output ... A better hitting technique is needed for the ball come out with the proper speed of our shovel.

It is advisable that, if you are a player with enough experience in the world of paddle and you already have a good hitting technique, choose a hard rubber. This will achieve greater power in your shots, in addition to increasing the durability of the blade. If, on the other hand, you are an initiation enthusiast, you still do not have a good hitting technique but you want to choose a shovel with EVA Rubber, we recommend that you choose a softer rubber (EVA Soft) so that you have a better comfort in your matches .

FOAM rubber

Also called polyethylene foam, it is a type of rubber that is used to a lesser extent than EVA. This does not mean that the blades that carry this type of rubber are of lower quality than the blades that carry EVA inside. It is simply a type of rubber with different characteristics and, therefore, the sensations will also be different.

The FOAM is a type of soft rubber that has more memory, that is to say, that our shovel absorbs more each hit. This 'slingshot effect' means that the models with FOAM rubber have, in general, more ball output than the blades with EVA rubber, a characteristic that must be taken into account for beginners, who have not yet learned the mechanics of each stroke.

In relation to the latter, FOAM blades are recommended for people who have elbow or wrist injuries ... And the fact is that by absorbing more the blow, so many vibrations are not transferred to our arm. Therefore, if you suffer from this type of injury, do not hesitate: Choose a shovel with FOAM rubber and you will notice much improvement in your ailments.

They are more oriented to players looking for or needing a shovel with a softer feel, either because they suffer from elbow / wrist injuries or because they like their shovel to have good ball output.
