Padel World Press .- On Tuesday, December 19, Matías Díaz and Ale Galán confirmed that they would unite their roads for the next campaign, forming one of those pairs that can give much to talk about during an 2018 that is more uncertain and equal than ever due to the formation of several pairs integrated by first level players. And they did it with one of those padel videos that have gone viral and that in just a few days exceeded the 20.000 reproductions.

With a great complicity between them at all times, Mati and Ale, veteran and young promise, spoke about the implementation of a project in which they have placed great expectations.

When talking about his 'origins' in the world of paddle tennis, the eldest of the 'Clan Díaz Sangiorgio' stated: “My father was always linked to sport, first to tennis and then to paddle tennis, due to the boom in this discipline in Argentina. After creating CEPAC (High Competition Paddle Training Center), my brother and I began to train and compete in paddle tennis tournaments. From there, my father began to work with Bela and with other great players who are today on the World Padel Tour Circuit such as Fede Quiles, Matías Nicoletti, ... A very good job was done for a long time and the few who could not arrive professionals are linked to this sport managing clubs or giving classes, all in Spain ... That is why I want to thank my father for everything he did for us and for everything he put up with us since we were, to put it mildly, curious ”.

For his part, Ale said that this year will have a double challenge: "I'm about to finish my last year of Baccalaureate. I stopped during a time of studying to focus on the 100% in the paddle and take advantage of a scholarship that I had. I have in mind to resume them in order to continue training. Although I have a lot of work with training, I will try to make both things compatible ".

Upon his arrival in the world of paddle tennis, the Madrilenian confessed: "My parents moved to an urbanization where there was a paddle court and well, although at that time it was barely 5 years old, we used to meet other children to play with. My parents got along well with one of the neighbors who was a player and padel teacher, Juan Romagosa, and with him my sister began training with David García Campos and other kids. I started to train at the 7 years in the School that I set up in Alcorcón Paco Moya, in the Club Amanecer. There I stayed until the 15 or 16 I joined the Damm Foundation. "

End of a cycle; beginning of a new stage

Consolidated as a double number 3 of the WPT Ranking, and with two titles to his credit in his two years as a teammate, Matías Díaz explained: "It was Maxi who told me he wanted to take another path, that he was going to play with Sanyo Gutiérrez. I understand that many players may be 'scared' a bit by my age, that they are 'afraid' that in the future I can not get to perform but I go from year to year and I continue to show that I am growing. It's like the wine that improves over the years. I think that Maxi and I could have at least one more season but, well, that is going to be in what we do not know since it is something that will not happen. Every couple is a world. In the case of what happened this year, the other party might look for someone else in another person that he thought I could not give him; I thought that with another I could do more and good, that later we will have to see it and prove it ".

It may be that so many changes of partner benefit Bela and Lima, dominators of the Men's Circuit during the last three seasons and who will start with a certain advantage against rivals who will have to spend the necessary time adapting: “I imagine that Bela and Lima will be very grateful for all these partner changes. Whenever I put together a new project, I do it thinking about a minimum of two years, which was what I was with Maxi… I hope Ale can put up with me a little longer. Then, well, it would be necessary to see if the other part of the pair get other proposals or not, if they manage to get along or not on and off the track ... There are many factors that influence and this is still a business. I don't see that betting on Ale is a risk. I see it as an investment, as a nice challenge that I like to accept. I think we will do very well ”.

Padel videos: Unforgettable year summary

As for Ale Galán, the member of the StarVie Team He acknowledged that he had completed a spectacular campaign with Juan Cruz Belluati, with which he was consolidated as the number 6 number in the Ranking. "We have far exceeded our goals. Juan Cruz and I were very ambitious since we joined together but we did not imagine being in the Top 10 as soon as we had started our journey in the Previa. The growth has been very great and now what is important is to keep working to continue this progression ".

When talking about the generational change, Matías Díaz said: “That more new kids keep coming will depend on the Circuit, on their growth,… The bigger it is, the bigger its prizes, the more people will be able to take the paddle tennis as a way of life. Very good young players are coming out, and more to come. The only thing that 'veterans' try is to adapt to the new circumstances that exist today in order to continue growing with them ”.

And who will be your coach? After taking a 'detour', Ale Galán ended up revealing: “We are starting as a couple and we have tried to talk about the technical team. We want to have a good coaching staff, to have the same coach, the same mentality, a person who directs us from the outside during the matches… In the end we decided to train with Mariano Amat and Jorge Martínez. I've been working with them for 6 years and I think they are a very important part of my progression. It was very important for me to continue with them and Mati understood that ”.

Then we leave you with the video of the full interview.
