There is a new delivery of interviews with which the companions of the Spanish Federation they are introducing us to the captains of the different groups, both Masculine and Feminine, who will participate in the Spanish Team Championship. On this occasion, it is time to get to know the person responsible for the boys of the RC Polo de Barcelona, one of the most successful teams in the competition.

Padel World Press .- Always faithful to their philosophy, with a well-defined idiosyncrasy, they continue to bet on having players who are members of the club, with some signing 'from outside'. This policy has led them to occupy a 'second plane' in recent years, in which other groups have reinforced their templates with great stars of the Paddle World Tour ...

Despite this, do not rule out giving more than a scare because, as Carlos Vila said to the colleagues of the FEPIf they are characterized by something, it is because they do not give a point for lost.

Have you made any changes to the team or will you go with the same team that competed last year?

No, we are not the same. The theme is that this weekend we have the Team Championship in Catalonia and being different regulations, we have different teams. Regarding last year, we have gone Bela, who has signed for the Arena Entrena that, as you know, they were weak (laughs). Adrián Biglieri enters, which serves us for the four Championships: Spain and Catalonia both Absolute and Veterans. Then, with the departure of Bela, we have signed Pablo Lima, who can only play the tournaments of Spain.

How's the preparation going? Have you already managed to gather most of the team's components?

You know what happens, we have many who are playing the Catalan Circuit, which has already been contested two tests. The others, since one is in Santander, another in Bilbao, etc. Despite this, I follow them all and, above all, the partners of the Polo such as Jani or Álvaro Malet, for example, with whom we are playing and so on.

What do you think are your best rivals for the Spanish Championship?

If you look at our team, someone who does not understand a lot of paddle can think that we are going to win, because we have Lima, we are the Polo and all these things. But in the end you see the rest of the teams and the Arena Entrena can do two sets quietly of the WPT, has an almost unbeatable team. Two years ago we had Juan Martin, Mieres and Bela and still we managed to win in semis and suffering a lot. Last year they took Juan Martín and Mieres, this year to Bela, which, very complicated. With the rest of the teams, although maybe we are a little below one, I think we can compete face to face.

The Polo is the only club that has two teams in the highest category. I guess I'm very proud to represent this club?

Clear. We have been winning in the Absolute of Catalonia for fourteen years; this season's could be the fifteenth title. In the Veterans of Spain, of thirteen editions we have won six; in that of Spain Absolute, twice ... For us it is a pride because we have the policy that partners have to play, with which we do the signings with an eye, taking into account that more or less in the team they have to play half partners. If you add to this that the women's team is always there too, it results in an incredible club to be proud of.

In your same category will play another Barcelona club, the Real Club Tennis Barcelona 1899. How would you live in case of derby?

The derby will probably live this weekend in the tournament in Catalonia. Last year we managed to win them in the 3-2 final and skim the crossbar. This campaign has been reinforced with Cristián Gutiérrez and David Luque while we have signed Adrián Biglieri. It is a little touched but we will put it even to cause confusion (laughs). In the Spain I hope that if we have to face it we will do it in semis, because as we play the descent, that will be something dramatic.

What is your real goal seeing how the rest of the teams are?

Well, the truth is that we may be fighting to enter the final or even to avoid the descent. It depends a lot on the draw that we play in the first round.

What is the philosophy and the characteristics that define as a team this Real Club de Polo de Barcelona masculine?

In the Polo, always by club philosophy, they have had to play partners so that having become very professional the paddle, every year costs us more. However, it is something that makes us have a hallmark and, in the end, we always manage to compete against everyone. The signings that we make try to be more or less of a stick similar to the one that we found in the rest of the team, with the exception of some very flashy signing. We are a band, as I say, but a band of friends who like to have fun playing paddle tennis.

To conclude, Juan Gisbert, partner and great player of the Polo, explained that: "I am very proud to be able to represent my club of all life, the Real Club de Polo, in the Spanish Team Championship. I think it's a very interesting tournament because there are couples that are different from the ones seen in the Circuit, since many players who are a couple usually play in different clubs, and it is a great opportunity for young people to be able to live together and play with them. best players in the world.
