At his 22 years, the malagueño is already one of the reference names of the World Padel Tour Circuit. Current number 31 of the world, the recent signing of Adidas Padel dreams of being one of the chosen to represent Spain in the XIIIº World Championship by National Teams. Do not miss the interview granted to the FEP team.

Padel World Press .- He completed a great track record during his time in the Junior Circuit, in which, among other titles, he won the Sub'16 World Championship and Sub'18 along with David García Campos and Matías Marina.

Along with that last player, he also achieved his first two professional titles: the Córdoba Challenger 2015 and the Lisbon Challenger 2016 ...

Just a few weeks ago he started his new adventure together with the experienced Seba Nerone, with whom he hopes to grow as a professional.

Congratulations for being preselected. I guess very happy for this first call for the Absolute Selection.

Very happy, yes, and more knowing the great players there. Now I'm waiting for that 29 day to arrive and see if I'm finally on the final list of the players that will go to the World Cup.

You have won World Championships in Juniors both for National Teams and for Couples. How do you remember that stage?

They are the most beautiful memories of my life. They were Championships in the company of spectacular athletes, in which we formed very strong teams where good vibes and friendship reigned. What I always remember about that selection of players and friends is that they were and still are very humble, hardworking and committed people. They were very happy moments.

You are part of a list in which you combine veteran and youth. How do you see the National Team this year?

It is a list in which there are many young players. In general, the Selection was composed of Willy Lahoz, Aday Santana or Jordi Muñoz among others, who have been key to the development of both the Spanish National Team and the young players who are now on the list. Little by little, we are putting new players in the head and I hope that in a few years the average age of the selected ones will be ostensibly less than what has been in the last Championships.

In that list you are a generation with which you have shared many moments in Minors. Will it be a joy I suppose the fact of being able to come together again?

Yes, as you say, I have lived many things with that group of players and friends… So now it is a satisfaction to have the possibility of being with them again, experiencing similar things in absolute terms.

The greatest historical dominators of the World Cups are Argentina. However, in recent years, that distance is being cut. Do you think we are 50% right now or do you think they are more favorite?

They have a very good generation, which is that of Belasteguín, Gaby Reca, Cristian Gutiérrez or Allemandi… But in recent years, as you say, these distances are being shortened. The same this year we are still not equal, but each World Cup we are climbing steps and reducing those small distances.

The season has interspersed quite good times with others more lax. You started with Matías Marina, coming to the quarterfinals in Barcelona and winning the Lisboa Challenger. However, it may be that the defeats in the final of the Spanish Championship and some in the first round have caused that union to break. Now you play with an expert, like Sebastián Nerone. How have you experienced this start of the season and how do you see this second half of the campaign?

Maty Marina, first of all, is a friend. The truth is that it has been a shame in these two seasons his injury in the middle of last year, something that did not prevent us from reaching the semifinals in Valladolid and winning the Córdoba Challenger. The memories with him are very good, a lot of work, having had bad times with the injuries, but above all they are positive memories and I hope that in the future the paddle will bring us back together. This season that remains, with Sebastián Nerone, I face with great enthusiasm. As an exceptional person, he always has a very positive attitude and, contrary to what one might believe due to his age, he is super excited to do the best he can.

A wish that you have Alex both personally and collectively for the end of the season in which the World is also?

I wish we could reach that Masters Finals, although we know that it is not easy since there are many couples fighting for that eighth place that gives the right to be there. Despite this, we will fight to the end and if you can not this season, let's hope it's the next one. My other wish is to be on that final list of selected for the World Cup. It would be a dream come back to be in the National Team, this time with the Absolute.
