He is one of the proper names in the history of the Absolute Spanish Championship… And with his recent victory in La Nucía, he can now boast of having won this competition up to seven times.

Padel World Press .- Veteran in these games, the Madrid was accompanied by Marta Marrero who, on the contrary, added her first triumph in this prestigious competition ... Despite the difference of titles, the truth is that the joy was identical for both that, in the case of Alejandra, this test will always be different.

His relationship with the Absolute Spanish Championship began when he was only 18 years old when, together with Carolina Navarro, he won the Pamplona Tennis in 2004. In 2006, in the company of María Silvela, he would achieve it again and repeated the Navarro herself both in 2009 and 2012. Finally, he did a double with Icíar Montes in 2013 and 2014.

All a reference of the female padel in our country, not only occupies the 3 position in the WPT Ranking but, in addition, became World Champion for Couples, along with Patty Llaguno, when she only had 15 years.

In an interview with the Spanish Federation, the HEAD player revealed her feelings after having revalidated, for the third consecutive year, her role as Champion of Spain.

What are the sensations after the triumph in the Spanish Championship?

A lot of happiness since winning a Spanish Championship is one of the things that an athlete always dreams of. Also, it's been a while since Marta and I played together and it has been a double joy and satisfaction for the effort we've been making since January to dock as quickly as possible.

What has been the evolution of this championship since you play it?

The level of recent years is more equal than ever. All players are trained more in all aspects of the game, not just the coach. We are more complete and I think you could see duels of those who create hobby.

What memories does your previous participation bring you, now with the title?

Every year has been very special. I do not forget any, nor all the compis with which I have been lucky to be able to play and learn at his side. I love this tournament. Every year I look forward to it.

Does the title have something special for you?

As I said before, it is special because of the effort and desire that Marta and I (and the rest of the team of course) have been putting into it since January so that we can function well on the track. As I live in Madrid and she in Barcelona, we have been traveling a lot and communication has been constant between us and our coaches. We had barely 3 months to be a competitive couple and I think we have achieved it although we are aware that we still have a lot of work ahead of us.

Could you remember your time in this and the previous championships in Spain?

The truth is that the last decade, since reaching the senior category at the age of 18 in 2004 has been fantastic. I have managed to win the title 7 times (2004, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015) and the Runner-up in two years (2007, 2011). Also, it should be noted that I have done it with different teammates and playing on both sides… So I am very happy.

Was there any difficulty in obtaining this title?

The final was our toughest match. We started a set down and, luckily, the second one got more in front of us with an 3-0 up that we followed until we won it by 6-3. The moment when we saw the title more difficult was when we put 0-3 down in the third set ... We had a lot of faith in raising it since in the previous tournament we did it and we continue fighting to level the contest, break the serve of our rivals and end up winning by 7-5. It was an equal match that could win anyone.
