Padel World Press - The number ones in the world will meet in the first semifinal of the WPT Paraguay Open to Bea González and Martita Ortega.

One of the first matches of the quarterfinal day was the one played between the current number one of the World Padel Tour ranking, Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay against one of the most fit duos of the season, Virginia Riera and Tamara Icardo. A match that began with a fairly even first set in which the number ones gave that final plus that was worth to get the advantage on the scoreboard (4-6).

Despite the result, Tamara and Virginia They did not lose face in the game and continued with the good level that they are showing in each tournament. That is why the game was still very even, so much so that the score was going to 5-5 and everything seemed to indicate that the tie break would be the only way to break the tie. But this was not in the plans of Ale and Gemma, who, with two games in a row in the final stretch, got their ticket to the semifinals (5-7).

Another of the final matches that would result in the second semifinalist couple of the WPT Paraguay Open 2023 was the one who faced Martita Ortega and Bea González Vs Marta Talaván and Lorena Rufo. A match that, unlike the previous one, had to be broken in the third set.

The entire match was marked by equality, neither of the couples was clearly dominant and a false step could be fatal for either of them. Marta and Bea gained an advantage in the first set, a set in which they better managed the winning shots and knew how to resist in defense when the rivals had their serve. In this way, and with only one break difference, the woman from Madrid and the woman from Malaga achieved that advantage on the scoreboard (6-4).

However, Marta and Lorena had not said their last word, they poured more gasoline into the engine and took over the reins of the set. Despite the attempt by the number three in the world to follow them on the scoreboard, the rivals were better and managed to tie the game (4-6).

Everything would be resolved in the third set. A set in which Bea and Marta achieved a 4-1 advantage on the scoreboard, making a rival comeback practically impossible. Even so, Marta and Lorena pulled their pride and got very close on the scoreboard. Although they were finally Martha and Bea the ones that gave the final blow to be in tomorrow's semifinal (6-4).
