Padel World Press - We echo the statements of Guillermo Alcaide, sports director of the International Paddle Federation (FIP), originally published by Twenty Ten, in which he analyzes the current situation and the future of the golden point in the circuit of Premier Padel.

The warden wanted to clarify the origin of the decision: "It's important that everyone knows why the decision was made to have an advantage. When the Premier project was born Padel"A decision is made in consensus with the players. I wasn't involved at the time, but I know the vote was pretty close."

Regarding the possibility of a format change, the leader explained: "The golden point is an option that exists; denying it is foolish. As of today, if I'm honest, we're not working on any idea for change. I'm not saying it can't happen tomorrow because, ultimately, we're aware of the advantages and disadvantages of both, which they both have."

Alcaide also addressed the different perspectives within the circuit: “On the one hand, the golden point helps on television because it's true that it reduces the number of spectators a little, although there are studies that also say it doesn't. It doesn't change the length of matches much. I think the players don't want it because the advantages lead to fewer surprises. I understand that fans might want it because it makes the matches more even.”

Finally, he acknowledged that the topic will remain open to debate: “Ultimately, it's an open debate. I understand that when the time comes—I don't know if it will be tomorrow or in three years—we will surely reconsider because the reality is that there are diverse opinions and criteria. I don't know if it was 55-45 or something like that in the vote. It was very fair. And the FIP and the Premier League have always been open to considering any option, and then decisions are made based on many criteria, many parameters that are not just strictly sporting ones.”

The statements, released by Twenty Ten, rekindle a discussion that divides players, fans and organizers: Should professional padel maintain its advantages or return to its golden age?
