Padel World Press - Padel players are experiencing a Déjà vu with Premier Padel. Promises of a fairer circuit fade in the face of unilateral decisions by Premier Padel and the FIP, such as changes to the scoring system and reduction of frames. Tensions are growing and the conflict seems far from resolved.

The conflict between the players and Premier Padel remains unresolved and has been intensified by the decision of the majority of the players of the Top 100 not to dispute the P2 of Gijón, the tournaments of the FIP CUPRA Tour and possibly the P2 of Cancun. However, they will participate in the P1 Miami due to contractual obligations.

Players claim that Premier Padel and the FIP They have made decisions without consulting them, breaking the promises made when the circuit was created. Among their main complaints are:

  • Unilateral change of the scoring system with the 2025 season already underway.
  • Reduction of the final table of the tournaments, affecting the classification and participation of players, as seen in the P1 Riyadh.

La Professional Padel Association (PPA) issued a statement explaining the reasons for the boycott of Gijón, demanding respect for the initial agreements. The situation remains tense and with no solution in sight.

One of the affected players has been Pablo Lijó, who has not hesitated to make his displeasure with this situation visible through his social networks:

«The players are paying for it. The fans are paying for it. The promoters are paying for it. The one who is not paying is the one who should..

There is not a single player who does not want to play, but we need to do so in decent conditions. We only demand that they fulfill what they promised us 3 years ago.. No more no less.

For my part, I have decided not to play the FIP Gold in Paredes, the Silver in Valencia or in Egypt; the P2 in Gijón; nor the FIP Gold in Dubai. And unfortunately, After the last letters received by Premier, I don't want to go to Cancun either..

It's sad, very sad, this whole situation. We have left a company that threatened us and did not count on us, to partner with another that does exactly the same thing.. They have needed a year alone.

For me, We apologize to all the fans who, along with us, are undoubtedly the ones who are most painfully watching how padel is being stabbed.

Of course, I WILL fulfill my contractual obligations and will be in Miami to compete for the second P1 of the season.

"Thank you all for your understanding and patience!"
